Let’s Dance in Toddler Time at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch

dancingWe are movers and shakers as we dance, dance, dance in Toddler Time, Wednesday, July 12 at 10:15 AM or 11:00 AM.  Mr. Alligator and Honey Bear are ready to read, sing and dance the day away. We hope to see you there!

Toddler Time is an early literacy program for children ages 18 months to 3 years of age. 

This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets and a craft are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.  A ticket is required for the child who is the appropriate age for the program. Caregivers and siblings who are younger or older are not required to have a ticket to attend.

This Week’s Programs for Kids & Teens

Pokemon handbookCome and join us on Tuesday, July 11, at 10:30 am for a fun, entertaining and educational puppet show presented by the Houston Fire Department. We will also have Lego Playtime, Youth Creative Writing Club, Animé and Manga Club, Game Night, Bilingual Storytime, and Pokemon Mania this week. Check out our events calendar.

STEM Time – Logic Problems July 17th @ 5 PM [8+]

 

If Bob has two red apples and Sarah has three green tomatoes, they are both on a train going 55 miles per hour for three hours. What time will the Arch Duke Ferdinand arrive for afternoon tea? If you figured out that none of that made sense, you might be a good candidate to think through some Logic Problems. Let’s figure it out on July 17th at 3 PM in the Library Community Room.

Children's Weekly Run-Down

Our Story times continue with their new schedule! Toddler Time in canceled to make way for SRP this week. Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday, and Preschool Storytime on Wednesday @ 11 AM. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

BUILD: A BETTER WORLD: Join us for the fifth meeting of our Maker Monday Club on Monday the 10th of July @ 2:15 PM. We will be building and creating a new and exciting craft out of recycled materials every week!

Our annual Princess Tea Party is this Tuesday, the 11th of July, @ 10 AM. Tickets Required.

Our special summer program for the week with be a demonstration of Renaissance Martial Arts on Thursday, the 13th of July, @ 10 AM. Join us as ARMA Houston comes to Kingwood Branch Library to answer questions, demonstrate drills and exercises with the longsword, as well as provide a live fighting demonstration.

We will also have our sixth Block Party this Friday the 14th of July @ 2:15 PM!

This week will also hold the third meeting of the Family Chess Club on Saturday, the 15th of July, @ 1 PM. Whether you are learning, expanding your knowledge, or just want to have fun, come by our Family Chess Club!

Community Craft – Trash to Treasure Recycled Puppets July 14th @ 3 PM [8+]

 

 

Every time we throw away a container, we are losing a piece of potential. Recyclables that are considered trash could be turned into treasure.

Join us at 3PM in the Library Community Room on July 14th to turn recyclables into puppets. Refreshments will be provided by the Parker Williams Branch Friends of the Library.

Klein Fire Department Visit

The Klein Fire Department will be stopping by on Tuesday, July 11th at 3pm to talk about Fire Safety! Stop by and get a glimpse of a real life fire truck! If you have any questions, please call us at 281.376.4610. 

 

Pajama Storytime on Thursday, July 6 at 6:00 pm

 Families are welcome to join us for Pajama Storytime on Thursday, July 6 at 6 pm.  This program requires tickets.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before the program.  This fun program features stories, songs, and an activity.   It is recommended for children of all ages and their family.  Children are welcome to wear pajamas, slippers, or bring a blanket or stuffed animal to the program.   Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program and others throughout the year.

Not a Box Craft Program on Thursday, July 6 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm

 When is a box...not a box?  When it is turned into an amazing creation by a young child.  Children 3-12 years old can get their creative juices flowing on Thursday, July 6 at 2:30 and 3:30 pm.  We'll provide a variety of boxes, decorative materials, and lots of tape and glue sticks for children to use their imagination.  This program requires tickets.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for support of this program and others this summer.   Just a reminder..Freeman opens at 1 pm on Thursdays.  We recommend that children arrive 15-20 minutes before tickets are to be given out to wait in line for a ticket.

We are Dancing with Babies at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch

Please join us for Infant Storytime this Thursday, July 6 at 10:15 am.   This month we will be focusing on movement and play as we dance the month away. 


Infant Storytime is an early literacy program for children ages 0 to 17 months of age.  Babies and caregivers learn songs, finger plays, as well as, share books and explore developmental toys to aid early literacy development.


This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.  A ticket is required for the child who is the appropriate age for the program. Caregivers and siblings who are younger or older are not required to have a ticket to attend.
