Houston Author Read Aloud at Fairbanks

On Tuesday, February 7 at 4 pm, we will be hosting a read aloud by Houston author Beatriz Chapa, for 2nd to 4th graders. She will be reading her new book Fruition, which takes place in Houston where four caterpillars take on a perfect adventure.  To sign up your children, please call 713-466-4438. See you there!

Toddlers Are Exploring Colors at the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library

rainbowJoin us on Wednesday, February 1, at 10:15 AM or 11:00 AM for a fun session of Toddler Time.  We will be learning our colors this month as we explore the rainbow.  Which color will Honey, our bear cub mascot, choose for this week? Come find out and jump into the fun at Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library.

Toddler Time is an early literacy program for children from 18 months to 3 years of age.  This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets and a craft are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.

Children's Weekly Run-Down

 

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! The year is moving right along as we make our way into February! Join us this week on Thursday the 2nd of February @ 4 PM for our World Tour Book Club to explore different countries and their traditions and stories.

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time** on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Preschool Storytime on Tuesday @ 2 PM, and Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

Pokémon Club at North Channel

Pokémon ClubPokémon Club will meet today at 3:00 PM in the Public Meeting Room.
We will be making some fun Pokéball bookmarks and have some light refreshments.

Don't forget to bring your trading cards, DS games, or devices to play Pokémon Go!

STEAM Camp:Symmetrical Snowflakes

Discover what happens when math, art and science are combined at STEAM Camp Monday, January 30 from 6pm-7pm. We'll be creating our own keepsake "Symmetrical Snowflakes" from a variety of materials. This program is recommended for ages 6- 12 years and will meet in the Public Meeting Room.

Rhythmic Books Your Toddler Will Love

Finding a book that a two year old will sit through is hard enough.  Finding one they will actually enjoy?  Yikes!  Some things to look for are books with rhythm and rhyming.  There's a reason Dr. Seuss and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom are so popular!  The rhythm in these books allows for easier storytelling and helps your toddler develop their language skills.  It allows them to differentiate sounds and recognize words.  Plus, they're just fun!

Country Club: Guyana

Explore with our library “Country Club” and we will “visit” a different country each month to sample food, culture, language, games and more! This month we will stamp our passports in Guyana.

Duck into Toddler Time this Week @ Katherine Tyra and Bear Creek Library
