Explore with our library “Country Club” and we will “visit” a different country each month to sample food, culture, language, games and more! This month we will stamp our passports in Guyana.

Duck into Toddler Time this Week @ Katherine Tyra and Bear Creek Library

ducklingQuack your way to Toddler Time this Wednesday, January 25 at 10:15 AM or 11:00 AM, at the Katherine Tyra Library, as we wrap up our great farm adventure.  We will sing, dance, shake our shakers and read about our feathered friends the ducks.  


Toddler Time is an early literacy program for children from 18 months to 3 years of age.  This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets and a craft are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.

Children's Weekly Run-Down

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Join us this week on Thursday the 26th of January @ 4 PM for our World Tour Book Club to explore different countries and their traditions and stories.

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time** on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Preschool Storytime on Tuesday @ 2 PM, and Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

Community Craft – Chinese New Year Dragon January 27th @ 3-5 PM [6+]

 

     To celebrate Chinese New Year, our Community Craft project will be creating a Dragon Puppet. The Dragon Dance is a traditional part of the Chinese New Year festival celebration.

     Join us on January 27th from 3 to 5 PM in the Library Community Room to create your own dragon and train it to dance at home.

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Lion Dance on Saturday, January 21 at 2:00 pm

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a Lion Dance on this Saturday, January 21 @ 2:00 pm.  Check out this amazing combination of stamina and dexterity as several dancers dressed in huge costumes perform to traditional Chinese instruments.   This fun family outing lasts about 30 minutes and requires no tickets.  It will be held in the parking lot of the Diana Lane side of the library.

Family Storytime on Saturday, January 21 @ 11:00 am

Our next Family Storytime will be held this Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 am.  Children and their families are invited to hear funny stories and songs in the Children's Department.  No tickets are needed for this family outing that lasts about 30 minutes.  This program is held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.

LEGO Robotics Camp returns in February

The LEGO Robotics Camp returns to Freeman for four Saturdays starting February 11.  This free camp is held in the Children's Activity Space.  It is recommended for children 7-11 years old.  The children learn engineering and robotics concepts as well as cooperation and teamwork.   .

Homeschoolers: Texas Bluebonnet Voting on Thursday, January 19 at Freeman

Homeschoolers who are 3rd-6th grade age can vote for their favorite 2016-17 Texas Bluebonnet book this Thursday, January 19 at Freeman Library.   We'll have a ballot and ballot box so that children can vote for their favorite Bluebonnet nominee just like other children will be doing in Texas schools.   The balloting will be available from 1 pm when we open through 9 pm on Thursday.
