Winter Crafts Fun on Thursday, January 19 @ 4:30 pm

Children 3-12 years old can celebrate winter with several fun crafts on this Thursday, January 19 at 4:30 pm.  We'll be making a paper snow globe, a cute penguin, and a colorful picture frame to display a favorite photo.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available in the Children's Department starting at 4 pm.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program and many others throughout the year.

Texas Bluebonnet Award Voting January 25th @ 3-6 PM [3+]

The Parker Williams Branch Library will be hosting voting for the Texas Bluebonnet Award.

If your child or teen is homeschooled or goes to a school that does not participate in Texas Bluebonnet Award voting, you can pick up a ballot from the Reference Desk from 3 PM to 6 PM on January 25th at the Parker Williams Branch Library.

Creative Writing Clubs for Young Adults and Youth

WritingIf you enjoy writing and would like to learn more about it, come and join other writers in your community in one of our Creative Writing Clubs. Leave grammar and writing rules in the classroom. Creative writing is all about expressing yourself through words. It can take many different forms, including short stories, essays, poetry, and scripts for skits, TV shows, movies, plays, YouTube, or video games. A member of our staff will share resources for budding authors and guide club members through activities to improve members’ skills, share ideas and feedback, and just have fun!

Let’s Mooove On to the Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Library for Toddler Time

CowJoin us for Toddler Time on Wednesday, January 18th at 10:15 AM or 11:00 AM, at the Katherine Tyra Library, as we continue our January farm adventure moooving on to learn about cows.  Come ready to sing, dance, shake shakers and read about cows on the farm.


Toddler Time is an early literacy program for children from 18 months to 3 years of age.  This is a ticketed program.  Free tickets and a craft are available in the children’s area of the library starting at 10:00 AM on the day of the program.

Polliwog Club @ North Channel Library

  Do you like animals? Deussen Park's Traveling Naturalist will be here at North Channel Branch for a first Spring visit with  "Smart Animals",  where you will learn about animal behavior and have the opportunity to touch live animals too! The fun starts Tuesday, January 17 at 1:30 pm in the Public Meeting Room. This series will continue monthly through April. No tickets required. Children's Weekly Run-Down


CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Join us this week on Thursday the 19th of January @ 4 PM for our World Tour Book Club to explore different countries and their traditions and stories.

Our Story times continue as normal! Be here for Toddler Time** on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Preschool Storytime on Tuesday @ 2 PM, and Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!

**Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

STEM Time – Chemistry January 19th @ 5 PM [8+]

     Have you ever wondered what will happen if you mix the blue stuff with the red stuff? Will it fizz? Will it explode? Will it make a poisonous gas that will make me the next super hero villain?


     Come and join us in the Library Community Room on January 19th starting at 5 PM to see simple chemical experiments that you can replicate at home.
