Program Summer – Houston Food Bank [5+] - Wednesday, August 1st at 2:30 PM


Every Wednesday in the Library Community Room at 2:30 PM throughout the summer, the Parker Williams Branch Library will be having a special guest put together either a fun show or an amazing learning experience.

Join us this week for The Houston Food Bank.

Not only does the Houston Food Bank distribute food to different communities throughout Houston and Harris County, it also sends out educators to our communities as well.

This week will be focusing on fun games and activities that get you and your kids moving. 

Storytime Break Aug. 13th to Sept. 3rd

The children's department will be taking a brief storytime break from August 13th to September 3rd in order to plan the fall programs. Regular storytimes will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 4th. Family Storytime this Saturday, August 4 @ 11;00 AM

Looking for a family outing after your pancake breakfast?  Join us this Saturday, August 4 at 11:00 am for Family Storytime.   This Saturday storytime features books, songs, and fingerplays.  It is recommended for the whole family.   We meet in the seating area near the magazines.  No tiickets are needed for this program.  Thank you to the Friends of Freeman Library for supporting this program over the years.

Baby Playtime this Friday, August 3 at 10:00 am

Looking for a fun Friday morning outing for you and baby?  Join us this Friday, August 3 at 10:00 am for Baby Playtime.   This program is recommended for children from infants through 18 months old.  It features toys, books, and bubbles.  It is held in the Children's Activitiy Space.  No tickets are needed for this program.  Thank you to the Frends of Freeman Library for their generous support through the years.

Wild Things Zoofari visits Freeman Library on Thursday, August 2 @ 2:30 & 3:30 pm

Thursday is our last big program day for the 2018 Summer Reading Program.  To celebrate, we have some fun and exotic anmals to learn about and see up close!  Wild Things Zoofari visits us on Thursday, August 2 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm with an assortment of amazing animals!  Come see if they bring a toucan, a lemur, a wallaby or any other of a number of fantastic animals!

Jabberwocky Jake!

Celebrate the end of Summer Reading this Wednesday, August 1 at 3pm in the Children's Area here at North Channel Branch with the DJ comedy stylings of Jabberwocky Jake! This variety show will also feature magic and two lucky young attendees will get the honor of the DJ experience-you could be a guest DJ! Jake's wacky brand of positivity and incredible energy will keep the smile on your face for hours after the show...don't miss it! No tickets required. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Children's Weekly Run Down!

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! This is the final week of the Summer Reading Program at the Kingwood Library! This Tuesday we have our regularly scheduled Toddler Time @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM. Lapsit Storytime is @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. Preschool Storytime will be @ 11 AM on Wednesday. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 AM where you can enjoy stories and a craft with your whole family! Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.


MONDAY we have our seventh session of Maker Monday @ 2:15 PM! Libraries rock, and we've got the crafts to prove it! Join us every week as we create a new music-themed craft. 

Papa Murphy's End of Summer Reading Program Pizza Party at Maud Marks

Papa Murphy's Pizza PartyCome celebrate the end of our Children's 2018 Summer Reading Program with us! Papa Murphy's will be here on Monday, July 30th for a pizza party to end the summer. Each elementary student can make a pizza and take it home to cook and enjoy later! We will start stamping hands 30 minutes before this event. Space is limited.

End of Summer Celebration









Hey Kids! Let's get together and celebrate all the reading we did this summer. Our end of summer celebration will be on Thursday, August 2nd at 3pm. You're invited to come dressed up in your best 50s looks and enjoy some coke and root beer floats! 

This program will be held in the Cypress Creek Christian Church and Community Center, right across from the library.

E-Summer Reading for Kids and Teens

Are your kids and teens searching for titles to read for school, or for recommended reading for their grade levels? Our e-book service through OverDrive and Libby has e-books and e-audiobooks for kids and teens that are categorized by grade level and include books on lists such as the Bluebonnet, Lone Star and the Tayshas.

If your kids are searching for something to read, check out our e-books at and select Collections>Kids or Collections>Teens. You can also download the OverDrive or Libby app and log in with your Harris County Public Library card to check out e-materials.
