SRP Program: Paint the Universe on Friday, June 21 at 10:15 & 11:15 am

  Children 5-12 years old will enjoy showing their creativity when they attend "Paint the Universe' on Friday, June 21.  We'll have a session at 10:15 and 11:15 am.  Children will get to see some inspiring images of the universe and then they'll get to paint their own concept of the universe on a canvas to take home.  All supplies are free and provided in the program.  Tickets are required.  They are given out at 10:00 am for the 10:15 session and 10:45 am for the 11:15 session.

Pajama Storytime on Thursday, June 20 @ 6:00 pm

  Looking for a fun evening outing for the family?  Join us at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 20 for Pajama Storytime.  This evening storytime features stories, songs, fingerplays, and a fun craft/  Children are welcome to wear pajamas, slippers and even bring a stuffed animal friend.  Tickets are given out at 5:30 pm.

Summer Reading Program: Castaway Science Island on Thursday, 6/20 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm

What would you do if you were stranded on a deserted island?  Join us on Thursday, June 20 at 2:30 & 3:30 pm as a scientist friend shows us ways that science helps in our everyday lives - even if we're stranded on a deserted island!   This program combines science concepts with lots of humor.  All ages are welcome.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available starting 30 minutes before each session.   Freeman opens at 1 pm on Thursdays.

Toddler Time in Space!

North Channel Library presents Toddler Time in Space with the Library Director! Join us Thursday, June 20 at 11:15 am in the Children's Area for out-of-this-world fun! Now toddlers get a chance to Trek the Galaxy! Recommended for ages 18 months - 3 years and their parents or caregivers. No tickets required.

Meet Astronaut Franklin Chang Diaz

Join us at the Evelyn Meador Library on June 29th, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, for an afternoon with Astronaut and Author Franklin Chang Diaz. Dr.

Chang Diaz is Chairman and CEO of Ad Astra Rocket Company, which he founded in 2005 after a 25-year career as a NASA Astronaut. He is a veteran of seven space missions and he has logged over 1,600 hours in space, including 19 hours in three space walks. He holds a PhD in applied plasma physics from MIT and he is Adjunct Professor of Physics at Rice University and University of Houston.
He will discuss the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing, what's next in Space, current projects with his company, and sign copies of his books.

Program is free and open to all.

Captain Zark's Intergalactic Space Show

Captain Zark will be here Wednesday, June 19 at 3pm to take us on an Intergalactic Space Adventure! Enjoy his galactic jokes, out of this world magic, and even a visit from an alien! You don't need a ticket-just come on in to the Children's Area...This program is recommended for ages 4 and up.

Don't forget you will earn 5 points toward your reading goal for the summer just for attending this program. Reading or listening to a book earns 10 points and once you reach 100, you will earn a book! Sign up and find out how all ages can participate at

Cinespace Saturday Shorts

CineSpace, a short film competition, is a collaboration between NASA and the Houston Cinema Arts Society. Come enjoy the short film finalists from previous years and be inspired to try film making.

Free Guitar Lessons - June 14th - July 19th

Our Guitar lessons class at High Meadows kicked off with a BANG on Friday with a full class! Kids and adults enjoyed learning the first steps to learning to play the guitar. Our class is currently full but please stop by on Friday in case there are openings. We hope to see all of you back this Friday as we continue the class and move forward in learning to play Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. 

Evelyn Meador Library's Birthday!

On June 27th, starting at 3:30, come in to the library to celebrate our birthday! We'll have events all around the library, so come in and:

  • Meet Happy the Clown and eat birthday cake!
  • Make personalized buttons in the Teen Isle.
  • Play with electronics and learn about our maker materials in our Maker Space.
  • Learn about our technology classes in the Computer Lab.
  • Make crafts and play games in the Children's area.
  • Find out about our new seed exchange and much more!

This will be a great event, so make sure you come out and have fun with us!

Children's Weekly Run Down!

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Welcome to week three of our summer reading program here at the Kingwood Library! Be here for Toddler Time on Tuesday @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM, Infant Lapsit Storytime @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and Thursday, and Preschool Storytime on Wednesday @ 10 and 11 AM. Tickets required upon entry for Infant Lapsit, Toddler Time, and Preschool Storytime. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets are limited and will be available the day of the scheduled event. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 where you can enjoy stories and a craft!
