Adult Senior Program-At the La Porte Senior Center

Broadway, La Porte, TX for an enlightening workshop on Aging Gracefully, presented by Katie Coones & Judy Svegliato! This fun exploration of the positive aspects of growing older is free and open to all adults ages 55+. Tuesday, June 13, at 9:30 am. No registration required and you do not have to live in La Porte to attend.

This workshop is provided through a partnership of the Norman L. Malone Senior Center and La Porte Community Library.

HCPHES Mobile Pet Adoption June 17th @ 3 PM [All Ages]

The Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services Mobile Adoption Unit will be coming to the Parker Williams Branch on Saturday, June 17th from 11:30 AM to 3 PM.

You can come over and visit with the dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that they have available for adoption. For any questions about adoption requirements, please contact the Veterinary Public Health Division at (281) 999-3191.

If you have any questions about dog and cat food, training, or other products, representatives from our local Petco will be available to answer any questions.

Grand Opening of the Creative Learning Space

Monday, June 5 at 1:30 pm we held the grand opening of the Creative Learning Space. The puzzles, toys, puppets and all the furnishings are a generous gift from The Friends of the La Porte Library to our community's families. It is our hope that our families will find it a comfortable place to enjoy reading and playing with their children.  Pictured left to right are Garrette Smith, Deputy Director of HCPL, Myra Wilson, Branch Manager of La Porte Library and Megan Harper, President of the Friends. 

Adults - The CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics Visit next Friday Morning!

Adults - The CHRISTUS Healthy Living Mobile Clinics will visit Freeman Library next Friday - June 16, 2017 (10 AM - 1 PM). Their free health screenings include:

  • blood pressure check,
  • glucose testing,
  • cholesterol (lipid panel)

Fasting is preferred.

Kids Café - Free Lunches for Kids

Hello Everyone. HCPL has partnered with the Houston Food Bank to provide free nutritious lunches to kids 18 and under at select branches during the summer. Fairbanks Branch will be serving every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 12:30-1:30 pm, from June 6th to August 10th in the meeting room. There is no need to register and all children under 18 qualify. Monday, June 5th we celebrated Hat Day at Baldwin Boettcher.  Poeple were invited to come wearing their fanciest hat in honor of our Hat Lady Cindy Groover.  We are proud to announce that the winner with the grandest hat is................................
