It's that time of year again!  We would like to congratulate all graduates for their amazing accomplishments.  Good luck with all your endeavors in the future!

Green Thumb Gardening Series

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Harris County Master Gardeners are pleased to offer the Green Thumb Gardening Series of lectures. These are free lectures that cover an array of topics. All lectures will be located in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room on a Thursday evening from 6:30pm-8:30pm. There is no registration for this event.

Volunteer instructors are needed to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, citizenship, and adult literacy in our community.  Training and materials are provided along with flexible scheduling. Make a difference in your community today. TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month This Friday!

Adults - The TGIF Programs Friday Film Series continues Friday at 10:15 AM. In recognition of Asian - Pacific American Heritage Month, we look forward to showing Flower Drum Song, the 1961 musical comedy starring Nancy Kwan, James Shigeta, and Benson Fong.

Come learn a simple meditation technique that can be used daily for greater peace, energy, and well-being.The Friends of Freeman Library support this program. 

 

MIX 96.5 Commit to Life Blood Drive at Fairbanks Library

Want to help save a life? Then come and donate blood with the Fairbanks Branch on Friday, May 26 from 10:30 to 3pm! We are partnering with MIX 96.5 and Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to hold a blood drive! We will also be doing free face-painting and crafts for the kids while you're giving blood! We will be using the Houston Cy-Fair Lion's Club building located across from the library, next to the park, where Lions Club members will also be selling concessions and giving free vision screenings as well. You do not have to donate blood to receive a free vision screenings. Be sure to Eat, Drink and Have ID before coming! If you would like to make an appointment to give blood, you can go the website: https://www.commitforlife.org/donor/sche.... But walk-ins are welcome!

Summer Reading is Coming!

Our Summer Reading Program is coming up in a few weeks. During the Summer, every book you read or activity you participate in earns you points that you can later use to win a prize!* We also have tons of activities that you and your family are encouraged to attend (some activities require registration or tickets). Free Lunch For Children Ages 1-18

Starting Tuesday, June 6, 2017 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the South Houston Branch Library will be serving FREE Lunch to children ages 1-18 years of age.  Meals will be provided by the Houston Food Bank Summer Food Service Program. Asian Pacific-Lion Dance!

During the month of May, our nation pays tribute to generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history. In honor of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, the Houston Lion Kings Dance Company will perform live in the Kingwood Library Meeting Room on Saturday, May 20th at 10:30 AM.
