STEM Time – The Plant Doctor [7+] - Wednesday, February 7 at 5 PM

George Washington Carver, also known as The Plant Doctor, was an African American botanist and inventor with an affinity for peanuts.

Join us on February 7th at 5 PM in the Library Community Room as we present a spotlight on the life, achievements, and accomplishments of George Washington Carver.

After the presentation, we will make some homemade peanut butter.

For those with a peanut allergy, please make arrangements with the librarian ahead of the program for any accommodations. 

Spin a Yarn and Word Crafters Meet Today

Today is a busy day at Baldwin Boettcher @ Lone Star College – North Harris.  Our Spin-a-Yarn group will meet at 2 pm on the third floor of the library building in the “makerspace” area.  At 5:30 pm Word Crafters will meet there as well.  If you are crafty or like to, sew, knit, write, and join in on a discussion, then this is the day to come and check out more than just books.  Come see for yourself.  We would love to have you!

Adults - Friday, 1/26 @ 10:15 AM - TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Returns!

We look forward to showing the 2017 live action adaptation of the fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love. This film, rated PG, stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans, and lasts 129 minutes.

The Friends of Freeman Library provide both the DVD and light refreshments for this event. Afterwards, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.

Book Buddies Youth Literacy [6+] - Tuesday, February 6 at 5-5:45 PM

Book Buddies is a youth literacy program brought to you from the Harris County Public Library.

Book Buddies is for children from Kindergarten to third grade and will be held at the Parker Williams Branch Library starting on Tuesdays from 5:00 to 5:45 PM in the Library Community Room for ten consecutive weeks starting February 6th and ending April 10th.

Applications can be picked up at the Reference Desk and are due on Tuesday, February 6th.

The Playbots Coding Club is having a very special guest to come speak about cyber crime and everyone is invited to attend. Come hear as Jim Morrison presents what it's like to work for the FBI in the cyber crime department and makes time at the end to answer your questions.

Popping Up Monday

Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library will be popping up today, Monday, January 22 from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Cypress Trails United Methodist Church

The church is located at 22801 Aldine Westfield Rd.  Spring, TX 77373 right across from the St. James Catholic Church.  We will have books for check out, crafts, stories and more in store for you. 

Afterwards there will be an ESL class with Cindy Groover from 6 to 7:30 pm.  So come join us!  We have missed you all, and we would love to see you there!

HERO&S Foundation Nutrition and Exercise Seminar [13+] - Saturday, January 27 at 10:30 AM

As we start a new year, some of us want a new start with our health.

The HERO&S Foundation is a local 501(3)c non-profit organization dedicated to educating and promoting a healthy eating lifestyle and practical physical fitness routines to youth, first responders, military, and the general public.

Please join us on January 27th at 10:30 AM in Room 3 of the Parker Williams Branch library.

There will be a light training session included with the discussion.

Please be prepared with comfortable shoes and clothing that you can move in.

TGIF Programs proudly hosts Master Gardener Chris Hammen on Friday, January 19 at 10:30 AM in the Marge Jacobson Community Room. Ms. Hammen will offer us tips on tomato gardening.

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Harris County Master Gardeners are pleased to offer the Green Thumb Gardening Series of lectures at the Freeman Library from January to October of 2018. Lectures will be held on the 3rd Thursday of every month on a variety of topics. These Lectures are FREE. This event is supported by the Friends of Freeman Library.

This month's topic of discussion will be "Basic Yard Maintenance" on Thursday, 1/18 at 6:30 PM in the first floor Meeting Room.
