Make a Difference in Your Community!

Volunteer instructors are needed to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, citizenship, and adult literacy in our community.  Training and materials are provided along with flexible scheduling. Make a difference in your community today. Adults - Friday, 5/4 @ 10:30 AM - TGIF Programs - Demo Series - "The Turkish Art of Ebru"

As part of the TGIF Programs Demo Series and in celebration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, Clear Lake City-County Freeman Branch Library proudly welcomes back local artist, Shaheen J. Rahman, on Friday, May 4 at 10:30 AM.

Shaheen enjoys the water-based medium known as “Ebru”, the ancient Turkish art of paper-marbling. This fascinating technique involves painting on the surface of water using a stylus, as well as combs and rakes. Exquisite patterns can be made with these tools which can include stylized flora and fauna. The painting is then transferred onto paper. Shaheen also likes to incorporate Arabic calligraphy into her Ebru for a wider variety of expression through this medium.

Re Opening Soon!

We are happy to announce that the Barbara Bush Library will be reopening on Monday, May 14th at 1pm. It's been a long road from August 2017 when Hurricane Harvey put us out of commission, but we are back and ready to serve the community again. 

There will be a grand opening planned for June 2018. Details on that will be coming soon! 

We can't wait to see you all again! 

Star Wars Celebration [6+] - Friday, May 4th at 4 PM

 

May the Forth is strong with the Parker Williams Branch Library.

Join us on Friday, May 4th for a celebration of all things Star Wars.

There will be Star Wars games, crafts, and activities in the Library Community Room starting at 4 PM. 

Word Crafters Tonight April 25

Today is Wednesday and Word Crafters will be meeting where Baldwin Boettcher is located at Lone Star College North Harris at 2700 W. W. Thorne.  It will be on the third floor of the library building in the “makerspace” area.   If you like to write or would like to start come, join us.  If you have any further questions, please call Carrie at 281-765-7726.

April 23 Pop Up


Today is Monday, and Baldwin Boettcher Library will be popping up at Cypress Trails United Methodist Church.  It will be from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.  There will be books and DVD’s to browse for all ages and the opportunity to return items.   A story time and craft will be happening as well.   At 6:30 there will be an ESL class with Cindy Groover until 7:30 pm.   So come on by, we would love to see you there!

Adults - Friday, 4/27 @ 10:15 AM - TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Continues!

The TGIF Programs Friday Film Series returns on Friday, April 27 at 10:15 AM. We look forward to showing a 1959 romantic comedy where two male musicians who witness a mob hit and flee the state in an all-female band disguised as women, but further complications set in. This unrated film, which stars Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, last 121 minutes.

The Friends of Freeman Library provide both the DVD and light refreshments for this event. Afterwards, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.
 

 

Dia De Los Ninos, Dia De Los Libros [5+] - Monday, April 30 at 7 PM

 

Dia De Los Ninos, Dia De Los Libros is a literacy holiday that celebrates children’s books written in Spanish.

It is important for children of all languages and cultures around the world learn how to read.

Join us in the Children’s Area of the library for a special bilingual storytime on Monday, April 30th at 7 PM.
