Passport Services @ Barbara Bush Library

The staff from the Harris County District Clerk's office will be returning to process U.S. Passports next week. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can call 832-927-5690 to make an appointment. NOTE: the last walk-in customer will be received 30 minutes before listed closing time. This applies to all locations.

Passport Services will be held during the following days and times in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room:

Tuesday, August 28th from 1pm-6:30pm
Wednesday, August 29th from 1pm-4:30pm
Thursday, August 30th from 1pm-6:30pm

Stained Art for Teens on Thursday

Today is the teen craft at Baldwin Boettcher’s Little Blue Library.  Teens will be creating stained art, and “paint with all the colors of the wind” and make simple but awesome stained art to decorate their space.  This program is for ages 11 to 18 years and will take place under the tree house from 3:45 to 4:45 pm.  No registration is necessary and as always, it is a free program.  So come join us.  We would love to have you participate in the fun!

Wild Birds Unlimited

You are in for a special treat! On the evening of Thurs 8/23, Wild Birds Unlimited will be in the Meeting Room at #KingwoodLibrary from 6-7 PM. Learn about the birds that live in or visit the Kingwood / Houston area. The hummingbirds will be passing through on their way to Mexico. Learn how to help. All ages welcome!

Wednesday Programs for Baldwin Boettcher

Today is Wednesday, August 22, and we will have our Spin-a-Yarn group meet at 11 am.  The location will be Mercer Botanic Center and the address is 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.  If you like to do crafts, knit, crochet, and chat then this is the group for you!
We will also have Word Crafters meet today at 5 pm.  Due to the early closing hours at the college because of the end of semester break, we will be meeting at the Starbucks at 1960 and Aldine Westfield.  If you like to write or would like to start, come join us.  We would love to have you there!

Programs This Week @ The Little Blue Library

Monday, August 20, we will have Story Time in the Gardens at 10:30 am.  The subject this week will be “squirrels”. It will take place under the tree house, and the age group it is for is 2 to 6 years old.   In the afternoon, we will have a program for kids and tweens ages 6 – 11 for Ocean in a Bottle.  Join us as we use science to make an ocean in a bottle with oil and water.  If you are wondering which one we will need more of?   Come join us and find out!  Then we will have an adult program at 6 pm.  It is English as a Second Language (ESL) taught by our beloved Cindy.  That class is located at the Mercer Botanic Center right down the road at 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.

New Hours for The Little Blue Library

Baldwin Boettcher’s Little Blue Library will have new hours starting Monday, August 20.  They will be open 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday for your convenience.   To see what activities we have coming up, check our events calendar at hcpl.net, and then come by and see us.  We would love to see you here!
 

Different Hours Next Week for BB @ Lone Star College

Baldwin Boettcher at Lone Star College – North Harris will have different hours next week due to the end of semester break.  Monday August 20 through Friday August 24, the hours will be 8 am to 4:30 pm.  Saturday, August 25th the college library will be closed.  The college library will be open for normal business hours on Monday, August 27 at 7:30 am.  If you have any further questions about the hours please call Carrie at 281-765-7726 or 832-927-5480.

Fantasy Football 101

We still have a few slots open for our #FantasyFootball101 class happening on Monday, August 20th @ 7pm.

To succeed in fantasy football, you will need the business shrewdness of a general manager, the knowledge of a pro scout, and the strategy of a head coach. Fantasy football allows you to compose and control your own team of NFL players.

Learn the fundamentals of the game and discover where you can play different types of fantasy football to compete against friends and/or strangers.

Community Craft – Duct Tape Pencil Pouch [7+] - Thursday, August 23rd at 4 PM

 

As school has started, there are a million things to juggle.

We have books, folders, glue, pens, and pencils.

Join us at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to get some relief from the clutter by making your own Duct Tape Pencil Pouch.

With over 50 different types of tape colors and prints, you are sure to find your style.       

STEM Time – Balloon Race Car [8+] - Wednesday, August 22nd at 5 PM
