Adults, Monday, 7/2 @ 6:30 PM - Summer Reading Program - Rockin' Food Demo!

Adults, please join us on Monday, July 2 at 6:30 PM as Freeman Staff host our "Rockin' Food Demo." Staff will make nachos with all of your favorite ingredients (chips, cheese sauce, taco meat, green onions, tomatoes, sour cream, jalapeños, etc). After the demo, attendees will be able to enjoy the nachos.

This free event will require no registration. The refreshments prepared in this event will be provided by the Friends of Freeman Library.

Friday, 6/1 @ 10:15 AM - TGIF Programs - Summer Film Fest Event #1

TGIF Programs invites adults of all ages to join us for our Summer Film Fest. We will be showing films on various dates during Summer 2018. This free event requires no registration.

On Friday, June 1 at 10:15 AM, we will kick off the Summer Film Fest with a 1949 musical comedy about 3 sailors on a day of shore leave in New York City look for fun and romance before their twenty-four hours are up. This unrated film which stars Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Betty Garrett, lasts 98 minutes.

BIG Things Going On at the Little Blue Library

It is going to be another BIG week for Baldwin Boettcher @ Mercer Botanic Gardens.  Monday is Story Time in the Gardens @ 10:30 am.  The subject this week is Ocean Animals.  Kids Café will continue Mon – Fri from noon to 1 pm. All children and their accompanying guardians are welcome to partake in this lunch program. Kids Cafe require that customers eat the lunch under the Tree House on the East side. Wednesday our kid’s program is Fire Safety. The teacher will be Mr. Tom and his wonder dog, Cinder!  Thursday is another great teen program for 7 Continents 7 instruments.  This week will be Europe. They will be making a Pan Flute.  Friday is Family Day from 9 am to 3 pm.

Passport Services Returning!

The staff from the Harris County District Clerk's office will be returning to process U.S. Passports next week. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can call 832-927-5690 to make an appointment. NOTE: the last walk-in customer will be received 30 minutes before listed closing time. This applies to all locations.

Passport Services will be held during the following days and times in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room:

Tuesday, June 26th from 1pm-6:30pm
Wednesday, June 27th from 1pm-4:30pm
Thursday, June 28th from 1pm-6:30pm

A Big Week at The Little Blue Library

Another busy week is underway at The Little Blue Library.  This Monday was the start for Kids Café!  We are now serving lunch from 12 pm to 1 pm Monday through Friday to all children and their accompanying guardians.

This Week was Great at The Little Blue Library

This week was an exciting week for both staff, and wonderful patrons of The Little Blue Library.  Monday we had Story Time in the Gardens.  On Kids Wednesday, we had Story Time Opera @ 10:30 am.  The talented Sandra Campbell performed Muncha Muncha Muncha and it was a big hit with the kids!  For Teen Thursday @ 1:30 pm, we made an instrument from North America called the “Ugly Stick”, and they turned out so cool!  Friday is our Family Day and from 9 am to 3 pm, the whole family can come for Pokemon Go and Geocaching.  If you do not know what Geocaching is, you are not alone.  Come by the Little Blue Library and find out.  You will learn something new, and have a whole lot of fun in the process! 

Citizenship Classes Happening Now!

Citizenship Classes are back! They are every Monday at 7pm in our Computer Lab.

Prepare for the United States Citizenship exam with this course. Classes are in English and study materials are provided by HCPL. Please note that this course does not grant citizenship and does not cover the cost of the exam.

Summer Meals @ Barbara Bush Library

This summer, the Barbara Bush Library and The Houston Food Bank are partnering up to provide healthy lunches for kids. 

Lunches will be served on Mondays to Fridays  from 11:30am-12:30pm. On Mondays, lunches will be available in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room, and on Tuesdays-Fridays lunches will be available in our Robin Bush Activity Room.

Summer Science in June at the Parker Williams Branch Library

Tuesday, June 19th at 10:30 PM – Science Explorers – Liquid Measurement [5+]


Looking for some science for your little guys and gals? Science Explorers is a science programs for kids 5 and up to explore basic scientific principles. Come on down to the Parker Williams Branch Library on Tuesday, June 19th at 10:30 AM. This month, we will be exploring the volume of water through liquid measurements.

Another Busy Monday for Baldwin Boettcher Library

Today will be another busy day for The Little Blue Library!  We had story time in the garden at 10:30 am.  Today’s subject was “Gardens”.  Next week we will be reading about “snakes”!  Spin-a-Yarn will be at 3 pm in the pole barn on the west side of Mercer, and at 6 pm, we will have ESL with Cindy in the pole barn as well.  For more information, call Cindy at 832-927-5480.  We hope you come see what we have going on for Baldwin Boettcher Library at Mercer Gardens.  We would love to see you here!
