Programs This Week @ The Little Blue Library

Monday, August 20, we will have Story Time in the Gardens at 10:30 am.  The subject this week will be “squirrels”. It will take place under the tree house, and the age group it is for is 2 to 6 years old.   In the afternoon, we will have a program for kids and tweens ages 6 – 11 for Ocean in a Bottle.  Join us as we use science to make an ocean in a bottle with oil and water.  If you are wondering which one we will need more of?   Come join us and find out!  Then we will have an adult program at 6 pm.  It is English as a Second Language (ESL) taught by our beloved Cindy.  That class is located at the Mercer Botanic Center right down the road at 22540 Aldine Westfield Rd.

New Hours for The Little Blue Library

Baldwin Boettcher’s Little Blue Library will have new hours starting Monday, August 20.  They will be open 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday for your convenience.   To see what activities we have coming up, check our events calendar at hcpl.net, and then come by and see us.  We would love to see you here!
 

Different Hours Next Week for BB @ Lone Star College

Baldwin Boettcher at Lone Star College – North Harris will have different hours next week due to the end of semester break.  Monday August 20 through Friday August 24, the hours will be 8 am to 4:30 pm.  Saturday, August 25th the college library will be closed.  The college library will be open for normal business hours on Monday, August 27 at 7:30 am.  If you have any further questions about the hours please call Carrie at 281-765-7726 or 832-927-5480.

Fantasy Football 101

We still have a few slots open for our #FantasyFootball101 class happening on Monday, August 20th @ 7pm.

To succeed in fantasy football, you will need the business shrewdness of a general manager, the knowledge of a pro scout, and the strategy of a head coach. Fantasy football allows you to compose and control your own team of NFL players.

Learn the fundamentals of the game and discover where you can play different types of fantasy football to compete against friends and/or strangers.

Community Craft – Duct Tape Pencil Pouch [7+] - Thursday, August 23rd at 4 PM

 

As school has started, there are a million things to juggle.

We have books, folders, glue, pens, and pencils.

Join us at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to get some relief from the clutter by making your own Duct Tape Pencil Pouch.

With over 50 different types of tape colors and prints, you are sure to find your style.       

STEM Time – Balloon Race Car [8+] - Wednesday, August 22nd at 5 PM

 

 

Join us in the Library Community Room on Wednesday, August 22nd at 5 PM for STEM Time project.

We are going to be learning about Newton’s Laws as we build and test our own Balloon Race Cars.

Come join us for an awesome action and reaction.  

VorTX 3735 Robotics Demo

Interested in seeing robots? The Klein ISD Robotics team, VorTX 3735, will be demonstrating the robots they have built and taken to competitions across the country. This event will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 12pm in our Earl Elliot Room. No tickets are required. Come by and enjoy!

Summer Program – Theater Arts Workshop [5+] - Saturday, August 18th at 4:00 PM

 

Shamelessly Saved Productions Theater Arts Workshop activities can provide a resource to ensure unique learning opportunities for young people to help them develop mentally and socially.

As they explore and identify who they are, they will be: improving academic achievement, building positive social networks, developing individual strengths, cultivating and strengthening values, and excepting and loving the skin in which they are in.

Family Fun Night – Family Safety with the Harris County Sherriff’s Department [5+] - Wednesday, August 15th at 7 PM

The Parker Williams Branch Library has you covered!

Join us in the Library Community Room at 7 PM on a variety of Wednesdays throughout the summer so you don’t miss out on the summer fun.

We will be having a visit from the Harris County Sherriff Department come out and talk about safety to the kids as well as have Child ID kits available. 

Science Explorers – Seeds [5+] - Tuesday, August 14th at 10:30 PM

Science Explorers is a science programs for kids 5 and up to explore basic scientific principles.

Come on down to the Parker Williams Branch Library on Tuesday, August 14th  at 10:30 AM.

This month, we will be talking about seeds and how they grow as well as a little hands on planting.
