Community Craft – Thanksgiving and Fall November 16th@ 4 PM [7+]

Getting into the Thanksgiving turkey mood, the Parker Williams Branch will be hosting a Fall-Thanksgiving Community Craft on November 16th from 4PM to 5 PM in the Library Community Room.

The children will be making a stained glass turkey to show off to the relatives.

Adults will be making a festive, fall leaf bowl that could be your new centerpiece.   

November Adult Crafts-To-Go Kits are Here!

Adults - please stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. This month's project is an autumn leaf decorative pin as seen here. This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last.

The History of the Bolo Tie November 11th @ 10:30 AM [6+]

What is a Bolo Tie? Who wears them?

Leslie Eaton from the Houston Rodeo Speaker’s Committee will be coming to the Parker Williams Branch to talk about the history of the Bolo Tie with a variety of different examples for kids to pursue.

Kids will be able to make their own FREE Lego Bolo Tie.

Join us in ESL Room 1 on November 11th at 10:30 to learn the History of the Bolo Tie. Registration is required.

Dia De Los Muertos Sugar Skull Decorating November 2nd @ 4:00-5:30 PM [All Ages]

 

 

Dia De Los Muertos is a family holiday for gathering and remembering family and friends that have past.

In the spirit of this holiday, we ask that you and your family to gather with us on November 2nd from 4:30-5:30 in the Library Community Room to decorate a Sugar Skull and share some of your favorite memories.

Grade School Programs This Week

We have TWO great programs for your grade-schoolers this week at the Fairbanks Branch Library. Tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 4:45 pm we'll be holding a Dia De Los Muertos Craft. Crochet Cornucopia

Do you know how to crochet or would you like to learn? Crochet is a fun and relaxing hobby that allows you to make anything you can imagine - clothing, decorations, stuffed animals, and much more. This Thursday, October 26 we will be starting a cornucopia project during our monthly Coffee & Crochet program for adults. You are invited to join us at 10:30 am for this fun project, and enjoy a cup of coffee while you work. All materials are provided, some materials are provided by the Friends of the South Houston Library.

Tricks, Treats, and Tales

Everyone is welcome on Friday, October 27 at 4:30 pm to out Tricks, Treats, and Tales program. Come trick out some fantastic fall and Halloween crafts and attend one of our two Storytelling sessions.
