Guest Speaker- Making Healthier Food Choices: Saturday, January 20, 10:30 am-11:30 am. Jing Ping, a Senior Research Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center, will give an informative program about food choices you can make to reduce cancer risk and improve your overall health. Free No registration required.

Book Discussion for Adults- Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer: Monday, January 22, 6:30 pm-7:30 pm. Join us to discuss Only Time Will Tell, the first title in the compelling Clifton Chronicles series. Compelling historical fiction, this epic story begins in 1920 with Harry Clifton, a dock worker in Bristol, England. Free. For Ages 18+. No registration required. 

Two Adult Craft Classes-Early January

Beginner Origami and Adult Crafts in JanuaryJoin Ms. Derry on Thursday, January 4 at 11 am for her Beginner Origami class. The class will be making an exquisite Japanese Doll Bookmark!

On Saturday, January 6 at 10:30 am, Ms. Irene will lead her Crafting for Adults class in making a lovely and versatile Valentine Felt Garland!

Teen DIY and a Movie – Spiderman: Homecoming (PG-13) and Spider Mugs December 27th @ 3 PM [13+]

If you’re looking for something to do during Winter Break, enjoy a movie and some cocoa in your very own custom Spider-Mug, made by you.

On December 27th, the Parker Williams Branch will be playing Spiderman: Homecoming at 3 PM in the Library Community Room while you design a mug.

Snacks, and cocoa, are generously provided by the Parker Williams Friends of the Library. 

Santa Night at North Channel

SantaIt's Santa Night at North Channel Branch Library!

Come enjoy a fun Snowman themed storytime and pictures with Santa.
Don't forget your cameras!

The event will take place tonight, at 6:00 PM in our Public Meeting Room. Free tickets are required and available at the program. Tickets are 1 per family.

Community Craft – Holiday Printmaking December 21st @ 4 PM [7+]

 

Printmaking is an art form where you carve or etch an image into a medium, roll ink or paint onto it, and press it to paper or canvas.

For this holiday season, we are going to be etching seasonal designs into foam plates and printing them onto paper.

Join us on December 21st at 4 PM to experiment with a new art in the Library Community Room. 

Adults - The December Adult Crafts-To-Go Kit Has Arrived!

Adults - please stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. This month's project is a fun foam snow globe ornament (see picture). This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last.

Holiday Crafting @ the Crosby Branch Library

Christmas BallsThe holidays are almost here and we have fun crafts planned for kids of all ages!

On Saturday, December 2, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, we will be making Mini Christmas Trees out of pinecones. This craft will be in the Children's area and is for ages 6-9.

On Monday, December 4, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm, we will decorating Christmas Cookies like a pro. Guest Vasso Espinosa, who teaches Culinary Arts at Galena Park, will teach partipants how to use decorating tips. This craft is for ages 11 and up.

 On Saturday, December 16, from 10:30 - 11;30 am, we will make Bath Fizzies--perfect for   last minute gift giving or a little relaxing treat for yourself! This craft is for ages 10 and up.
