Winter Break Youth Activities

The Parker Williams Branch Library is providing a variety of different programs in addition to our regular 10:30 AM Wednesday Storytime and 10:30 AM Thursday Toddler Time:

Tuesday, January 2 from 1-4 PM – Extended Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]


Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast. It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on January 2nd on the Library Floor for an extended hours of game play from 1-4 PM. For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

A Special Thank You to Strike Zone for their generous donation of Magic: The Gathering cards.

Guest Speaker- Making Healthier Food Choices: Saturday, January 20, 10:30 am-11:30 am. Jing Ping, a Senior Research Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center, will give an informative program about food choices you can make to reduce cancer risk and improve your overall health. Free No registration required.

Book Discussion for Adults- Only Time Will Tell by Jeffrey Archer: Monday, January 22, 6:30 pm-7:30 pm. Join us to discuss Only Time Will Tell, the first title in the compelling Clifton Chronicles series. Compelling historical fiction, this epic story begins in 1920 with Harry Clifton, a dock worker in Bristol, England. Free. For Ages 18+. No registration required. 

Adults - Friday, 12/29 - TGIF Programs - Winter Film Festival Event #3!

Please join us for the third event of TGIF Programs Winter Film Festival on Friday, December 29. We will show a 1938 romantic comedy starring Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Doris Nolan. The film lasts 95 minutes.

Refreshments and DVD are provided by the Friends of Freeman Library. After Event #3, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.

A Novel Idea - January

A Novel Idea will be meeting on Wednesday, January 10th. January's book choice is Rose Harbor in Bloom by Debbie Macomber. Join us from 11am-12pm as we discuss the peaks and pitfalls of Rose Harbor in Bloom

Adults - Friday, 12/22 @ 10:15 AM - TGIF Programs - Winter Film Festival Event #2!

Please join us for the second event of TGIF Programs Winter Film Festival on Friday. We will show a 1940 romantic comedy starring Margaret Sullavan, James Stewart, and Frank Morgan. The film lasts 99 minutes.

Refreshments and DVD are provided by the Friends of Freeman Library. After Event #2, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.

Santa Night at North Channel

SantaIt's Santa Night at North Channel Branch Library!

Come enjoy a fun Snowman themed storytime and pictures with Santa.
Don't forget your cameras!

The event will take place tonight, at 6:00 PM in our Public Meeting Room. Free tickets are required and available at the program. Tickets are 1 per family.

Community Craft – Holiday Printmaking December 21st @ 4 PM [7+]

 

Printmaking is an art form where you carve or etch an image into a medium, roll ink or paint onto it, and press it to paper or canvas.

For this holiday season, we are going to be etching seasonal designs into foam plates and printing them onto paper.

Join us on December 21st at 4 PM to experiment with a new art in the Library Community Room.
