Valentine’s Day Book Sale

friends of the tomball community library logoJoin us this Saturday, February 13 for a book sale hosted by the wonderful Friends of the Tomball Community Library! Books in a wide range of genres will be available for sale in the library lobby from 10:00am-2:00pm. By popular demand, pre-made grab bags, each full of 10 random books in the same genre, will be available for $2.00 a bag. And, in honor of Valentine’s Day, all romance paperbacks will be on sale for 25 cents a book.

If you are an adult interested in volunteering with the Friends of the Community Library, take note. A volunteer orientation and training will be held at the beginning of the book sale. Feel free to stop by at 10:00am Saturday for more information.

TGIF Programs' Technology Q&A Series This Friday!


The TGIF Programs “Technology Question & Answer” Series continues in the upstairs Training Lab on Friday, February 12 at 10:30 AM. Here’s a chance to ask Freeman Library staff and other attendees about computers, smartphones, mobile devices, and eMedia from the HCPL Digital Media Catalog.

Freeman Cultural Series - Film Night - Monday


Adults - Please join us this Monday at 6:00 PM for the Freeman Cultural Series Film Night. In honor of African American History Month, we will be showing the 1963 film Lilies of the Field starring Sidney Poitier and Lilia Skala. If you miss this night, the film will have an encore during the TGIF Friday Film Series on February 26 at 10:30 AM.

TGIF Programs Hosts Robert Jacobus, Author of Houston Cougars in the 1960s


TGIF Programs is pleased to host Robert Jacobus, author of Houston Cougars in the 1960s: Death Threats, the Veer Offense, and the Game of the Century, at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 5. Mr. Jacobus' book and presentation, which focus on the integration of the University of Houston athletic teams, is part of the Freeman Cultural Series.

Brand New Adult Crafts-To-Go Project!

Adults - stop by the upstairs Reference Desk, to pick up an Adult Crafts-To-Go kit. We're making heart & ribbon bookmarks in February. This free kit will include all materials necessary as well as instructions. This project will be available to adult patrons while supplies last.

TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Continues This Friday!

The Friday Film Series continues on Friday, January 29 at 10:15 AM in the Marge Jacobson Community Room. We will be showing Despicable Me (2010), an animated film which features the vocal talents of Steve Carell, Jason Segel, and Russell Brand.

Walmart Donation

Thanks to the Neighborhood Walmart on Westgreen for their $2500 community services grant to the Friends of Maud Marks Library.  Rest assured this check will be used to support the library’s many services and programs

Book Sale Tomorrow!

Female Holding BooksThe Friends of the Northwest Branch Library are having a book sale this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Come and find gently used titles, while helping The Friends. Money raised goes towards supporting library programs and purchasing materials. 

The library can't thank The Friends enough for all that it does. The group was instrumental in getting the library built back in 1983 and have supported us every step of the way since. If joining The Friends of the Northwest Branch Library sounds intriguing, then stop to visit with a member. They can share more information about what they do and assist you with becoming a member as well.
