Help

Welcome Back to School!

The Evelyn Meador Branch Library is excited for school to start next week! We can’t wait to see and help out our students. To help everyone start the year right, we wanted to let you know about some of our great school resources to help kids succeed this year!

Home School Help!

The Evelyn Meador Library loves our homeschoolers! We are always happy to have home school groups and families come to the library and check out our books. As such, we are happy to announce a new tool for our home school groups! The library has created a request form for our homeschoolers, allowing them to request visits to the library! WIth this form, you will be able to request storytimes, library tours, classes, and free play time whenever works for your schedule! We hope that you will use it to take advantage of all the great materials that we offer and give you the opportunity to make even better use of your library!

Don't Stop Reading This Summer!

At this point of the summer, many of our patrons have already completed our summer reading program and gotten all their prizes from it. However, just because you have finished does not mean you should stop reading for the summer! The Harris County Public Library has a weekly challenge of books throughout the summer to help keep you motivated. This can help you try books and genres you wouldn’t normally read for a great experience. Look at the list below to see what the upcoming challenges are and come into the library to find something new to read!

  • July 15-21: It's Not Rocket Science- DIY/Maker Books
  • July 22-28: No One Can Hear You Scream- Horror Books
  • July 29-August 4: Lune-Y Reads- Humour

Book Buddies Needs Volunteers!

The Evelyn Meador Branch Library needs adult volunteers to to share the joy of reading with a young child. Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies program pairs trained volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies will meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

This next season of Book Buddies will run from September 11th to November 13th, 2019 at Evelyn Meador Branch Library. You will meet once a week on Wednesdays from 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm to read with your Little Buddy.
