4th of July Holiday Hours

In honor of Independence Day, Kingwood Branch Library will close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd and remain closed on Thursday, July 4th. Regular hours resume on Friday, July 5th.

Closed for Independence Day!

The Evelyn Meador Branch Library will be closing at 5:00 PM on July 3rd and be closed for the 4th of July. We will re-open on Friday for our usual hours.

If you miss us and want to see some librarians on July 4th, make sure to go to Seabrook's Fourth of July Children's Parade! It will take place from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM at the Rex L. Meador Park. We will have librarians manning a booth and giving away treats and coloring pages! 

Closed On July 4th

The Northwest Branch Library will close early at 5:00pm on Wednesday, July 3rd and will be closed all day Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. The library will resume normal operating hours at 1:00pm on Friday, July 5th, 2019. Electronic Resources will be available during the closure, customers can return their items via the after hours bookdrop. Congress established Independence Day as a holiday in 1870, and in 1938 Congress reaffirmed it as a paid holiday for federal employees. Today, communities across the nation mark this major midsummer holiday with parades, firework displays, picnics and performances of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and marches by John Philip Sousa.

Summer is Here, Time to Read!

The Harris County Public Library is starting it’s Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories”, on June 3rd, so it’s almost time to start reading! This year, record your reading on our website, or sign up on the Beanstack app, to earn points and prizes for all ages. Then come to the library to collect your prizes, like books, earbuds, and gift certificates.

Also, don’t forget to pick up a calendar of summer events at the library, or check them on our online calendar, so that you don’t miss out on great programs for all ages like educational classes, fun festivals, crafts, and other events. 

Memorial Day Closure

Kingwood Library will be closed Monday, May 27, 2019 in observance of Memorial Day. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, May 28.

Memorial Day

Each Memorial Day we honor the brave men and women who have fallen while serving in the United States Armed Forces. In observance of the holiday, the library will remain open regular hours Friday, but will be closed Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27. The library will reopen for business Tuesday, May 28 at 8:00 am.

However you might be celebrating, we wish you a safe Memorial Day, and extend gratitude to those who have given their lives in service to their country.

Maker Imagineering Gallery

The Barbara Bush Library is creating a MakerLab and we would love your input! You are cordially invited to innovate, make, and collaborate! Come tinker with a myriad of materials, machines as well as robots.

If you bring a tshirt, you can use our cricut to make a customizable shirt! 

We look forward to you joining us to create innovative sparks leading to the ignition of a further inquiry and discovery to build a better world starting with our community.
