Cinespace Saturday Shorts

CineSpace, a short film competition, is a collaboration between NASA and the Houston Cinema Arts Society. Come enjoy the short film finalists from previous years and be inspired to try film making.

Summer is Here, Time to Read!

The Harris County Public Library is starting it’s Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories”, on June 3rd, so it’s almost time to start reading! This year, record your reading on our website, or sign up on the Beanstack app, to earn points and prizes for all ages. Then come to the library to collect your prizes, like books, earbuds, and gift certificates.

Also, don’t forget to pick up a calendar of summer events at the library, or check them on our online calendar, so that you don’t miss out on great programs for all ages like educational classes, fun festivals, crafts, and other events.

The Barbara Bush Library is creating a MakerLab and we would love your input! You are cordially invited to innovate, make, and collaborate! Come tinker with a myriad of materials, machines as well as robots.

If you bring a tshirt, you can use our cricut to make a customizable shirt! 

We look forward to you joining us to create innovative sparks leading to the ignition of a further inquiry and discovery to build a better world starting with our community.

Adults - Don't Miss the Next WikiTree Genealogy Class, Thursday, 2/21 @ 7 PM in the 2nd Floor Computer Lab!

 

Come learn WikiTree, a free, collaborative, source/documentation based online single family tree. Whether you are already a seasoned researcher or just interested in starting your family tree research, WikiTree has something for everyone and this class will help you get started and learn how to build and add to your family history using WikiTree.

Keep Your New Year’s Resolution this Year

With the holidays over and 2019 finally here, we’ve all set our New Year’s Resolutions. However, I’m sure at least some of you are worried that this year will be exactly like last year, where halfway through January your goals were already given up. If that is the case, don’t worry. The library is here to help you accomplish those resolutions and have fun during the process. With a variety of events, resources, and opportunities, there’s no goal that we can’t help you with.
