Summer is Here, Time to Read!

The Harris County Public Library is starting it’s Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories”, on June 3rd, so it’s almost time to start reading! This year, record your reading on our website, or sign up on the Beanstack app, to earn points and prizes for all ages. Then come to the library to collect your prizes, like books, earbuds, and gift certificates.

Also, don’t forget to pick up a calendar of summer events at the library, or check them on our online calendar, so that you don’t miss out on great programs for all ages like educational classes, fun festivals, crafts, and other events.

Programming Break

As we prepare for the Summer Reading Program, we'd like to remind everyone that our Children's Department will take a brief storytime and program break. Starting May 20th, we will begin preparations for a fun filled Summer Reading program.

Programs and Storytimes will resume on Monday, June 3rd for Summer Reading!

We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Happy Mother's Day!

Just because the Evelyn Meador Library is closed on Sunday doesn’t mean that we don’t love and celebrate Mother’s Day. We appreciate all the moms in our community who do so much to help their kids and teach them to read and come to the library. To help you celebrate Mother’s Day, here are some great children’s books about mothers that would be perfect reads this Sunday (or any time you want to read about moms):

-My Mommy Hung the Moon by Jamie Lee Curtis & Laura Cornell: A hard-working mother's extraordinary accomplishments are listed by her devoted child.
