TGIF Programs Kicks Off Spring Film Fest Friday, 3/9!

TGIF Programs invites adults of all ages to join us for our Spring Film Fest. We will be showing films on various dates throughout March 2018. These free events requires no registration.

We look forward to showing a 1932 romantic drama about a group of very different individuals staying at a luxurious hotel in Berlin deal with each of their respective dramas. This unrated film which lasts 112 minutes, stars Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, and Joan Crawford.

Make some Anti-Valentine’s with us on February 9th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room as we watch The DUFF and observe the destruction of the typical high school social structure.   

African-American History + NASA =

Hidden Figures bookFebruary is African-American History Month, and at the Aldine Library, we’re also making it NASA month. To combine the two, we are hosting a discussion of the book “Hidden Figures” on Friday, February 23, at 4:00 pm and showing the movie on Tuesday, February 27 at 4:00 pm. Read the book that the fabulous movie was based on! A limited number of free copies of the book are available for people who register for the book discussion.

Adults - Friday, 1/26 @ 10:15 AM - TGIF Programs Friday Film Series Returns!

We look forward to showing the 2017 live action adaptation of the fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love. This film, rated PG, stars Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans, and lasts 129 minutes.

The Friends of Freeman Library provide both the DVD and light refreshments for this event. Afterwards, the DVD will be added to the HCPL Collection and available for checkout. This free program requires no registration.

Teen DIY and a Movie – The Maze Runner (PG-13) and Glade Duct Tape Pouch [13+] - Friday, January 26 at 4 PM

With the fast approaching release of the third installment of the Maze Runner Series, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the Parker Williams Branch will be playing the first movie, The Maze Runner,  on January 26th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room.

While watching the movie, we will be making Glade Duct Tape Pouches.

Adult Movie Mania: The Dark Tower

If you love action, adventure, fantasy, and westerns, you won't want to miss our Adult Movie Mania feature this month at the South Houston Branch Library. The Dark Tower is a 2017 film based on Stephen King's series of books and is set in both our modern world and in Stephen King's old west-style Midworld. Make sure to join us next Friday, January 12 @ 1:30 PM for this exciting feature film.
