June Thursday Science Fiction Feature at 2 PM

Thursday, June 6th at 2 PM – SciFi Feature – Lilo & Stitch (PG; 85 min) [10+]
Thursdays at 2 PM in the Parker Williams Library Community Room, we will be featuring a different Science Fiction movie for kids each week. Here is a description of this week’s feature:

Summer is Here, Time to Read!

The Harris County Public Library is starting it’s Summer Reading Program, “A Universe of Stories”, on June 3rd, so it’s almost time to start reading! This year, record your reading on our website, or sign up on the Beanstack app, to earn points and prizes for all ages. Then come to the library to collect your prizes, like books, earbuds, and gift certificates.

Also, don’t forget to pick up a calendar of summer events at the library, or check them on our online calendar, so that you don’t miss out on great programs for all ages like educational classes, fun festivals, crafts, and other events.

Before you head to the theater to see the live action re-make of Disney's Aladdin, you can re-watch it the original 1992 film (G, 90 min.) right here with us at the Parker Williams Library on Friday, May 24th at 4 PM in the Community Room.

Maker Imagineering Gallery

The Barbara Bush Library is creating a MakerLab and we would love your input! You are cordially invited to innovate, make, and collaborate! Come tinker with a myriad of materials, machines as well as robots.

If you bring a tshirt, you can use our cricut to make a customizable shirt! 

We look forward to you joining us to create innovative sparks leading to the ignition of a further inquiry and discovery to build a better world starting with our community.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and we will be celebrating all month long at the Evelyn Meador Library. With displays throughout the library and some great programs for all ages, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to celebrate as well! Here’s what you can come and do at the library this month:

• May 14, 4:00 PM- Join us as we create our own mandalas. A mandala is a symbolic picture of the universe. Mandalas date from the 4th century and traditionally have been created around the world in places such as Tibet, India, Nepal, China, Japan, Bhutan, and Indonesia for purposes both sacred and secular.

Celebrate National Library Week with Us!

April 7-14 is National Library Week and we want you to celebrate with us! Here's what we have planned all next week and how you can join us in sharing your love for the library. 

We will have our #ilovemylibrary frame out at the customer service desk for you to come by and snap a photo showing your love for your library. Post it to social media and tag us!

TGIF Programs invites adults of all ages to join us for our March Movie Madness on various dates throughout the month. These free events require no registration.

We look forward to kicking off March Movie Madness on Friday, 388 at 10:15 AM with the 1940 Alfred Hitchcock film adaptation of the Daphne Du Maurier novel about a self-conscious bride tormented by the memory of her husband's dead first wife. This unrated film which lasts 130 minutes, stars Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, and George Sanders.
