Have a FOMO? You Probably Should.

FOMO, as I’m sure you all know, is a Fear of Missing Out. It generally refers to the fear that people are going to do something fun without you and afflicts pretty much everyone at some point. If you’ve ever been worried about not being at a game, missing dinner, or have been stressed about what’s happening at home without you, you’ve had FOMO. So, let me tell you right now, if you don’t plan on going to the Evelyn Meador Branch Library this week, you are definitely MO’ing (Missing Out, if that’s not clear).

July Computer Classes

Computer classes are once again happening at the Barbara Bush Library. If you'd like to attend one of our FREE classes, please register online through our Events page or call us at 832-927-7800.

Here's the list of classes happening in July:

Happy Stay Out of the Sun Day!

For those of you reading this post on July 3, have a wonderful Stay Out of the Sun Day! We at the Evelyn Meador Branch Library hope you are celebrating this important national holiday appropriately by staying inside and reading a book, the way that every holiday should be celebrated. If not, make sure that you are wearing lots of sunscreen, and keeping cool while you are outside reading your book. It would be a shame if you got sunburned while you were outside reading, and we would really rather you not get hurt when you are reading your book ever. Physically at least. We can’t help you if you get emotionally hurt.

Passport Services Returning!

The staff from the Harris County District Clerk's office will be returning to process U.S. Passports next week. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can call 832-927-5690 to make an appointment. Tuesday, June 26th from 1pm-6:30pm
Wednesday, June 27th from 1pm-4:30pm

Take a Staycation with our Online Resources

During the summer it can be hard to get to your local library. You might be on vacation in a different state, it might be too hard to get the kids in the car, or it might just be too hot (or rainy) to leave the house.  If that’s the case for you, but you’re still hankering for some entertainment, the library is still the place to help you. We have access to tons of databases and online catalogs on our website that can still help you! Here are just a few of them:

Citizenship Classes Happening Now!

Citizenship Classes are back! They are every Monday at 7pm in our Computer Lab.

Prepare for the United States Citizenship exam with this course. Classes are in English and study materials are provided by HCPL. Please note that this course does not grant citizenship and does not cover the cost of the exam.

If you'd like more information about our Citizenship Class, please give us a call at 832-927-7800.

Programs and services are Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliant. Special accommodations can be requested in advance by contacting the library.

The Library is Fun for the Whole Family!

I’m sure you parents out there are thinking about what to do now that your kids are home ALL DAY during the summer! The school year has gotten you used to having a little peace and quiet during the day and now you’ve lost that without a good, legal way of getting it back. Fortunately, the Evelyn Meador Branch Library is here to help, with fun and activities for all ages.
