Rain, Rain, Go Away! (And I Mean It!)

You should come to the library this week. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Despite all the rain, it really is worth it to come to the library. Yes, it’s wet and terrible, but it’s been raining for at least two weeks solid. The time for excuses has to end, even if it is hard to admit it.

To help you out, we have a lot of fun activities coming up at the library, which will give you the time to enjoy yourself in a free, indoor environment. That’s right. You get to be inside, you don’t have to pay anything, and our events are a guaranteed blast. Here’s some of them:

Evening Book Club @ Barbara Bush

Looking for a book club that isn't during your workday? We've got one for you! It's not too late to join our evening book club. Evening book club will be meeting on September 11th at 7:00pm to discuss The Address by Fiona Davis. Stop by the branch to pick up a copy, request it through our catalog, or check a digital copy out through Overdrive

Adults - Friday 9/7 @ 10:15 AM - TGIF Programs - Technology Series - Technology Q&A

Let's talk about the technology issues concerning you! People from Freeman Library will be here to address questions about desktops/laptops, smartphones, digital tablets, HCPL eMedia, and more.

This free event requires no registration. The Friends of Freeman Library provide support for all TGIF Programs. Please contact the Clear Lake City - County Freeman Branch Library by visiting 16616 Diana Lane, Houston, TX 77062 or calling 832-927-5420 for further information.

What We're Reading

The librarians at the Evelyn Meador Branch Library read A LOT of books! I’m sure that comes as no surprise to you. Today, we decided to share some of what we are reading. This might even help you know who to ask for the next time you need a book recommendation.

Passport Services @ Barbara Bush Library

The staff from the Harris County District Clerk's office will be returning to process U.S. Passports next week. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can call 832-927-5690 to make an appointment. NOTE: the last walk-in customer will be received 30 minutes before listed closing time. This applies to all locations.

Welcome Back to School!

With school starting on Monday, we at the Evelyn Meador Branch Library want to officially welcome back to our students! We have missed a lot of you over the summer (you know who you are) and we are excited to have you coming back to the library after school!

Fantasy Football 101

We still have a few slots open for our #FantasyFootball101 class happening on Monday, August 20th @ 7pm.

To succeed in fantasy football, you will need the business shrewdness of a general manager, the knowledge of a pro scout, and the strategy of a head coach. Fantasy football allows you to compose and control your own team of NFL players.

Learn the fundamentals of the game and discover where you can play different types of fantasy football to compete against friends and/or strangers.

If you have any questions about this program or would like to reserve your spot, please call us at 832-927-7800.

Summer Reading Summary

Now that our Summer Reading Program is officially over, and everyone is coming in to get their prizes (by the way, if you haven’t gotten your prize, come to the Reference Desk before August 18th to get it), we at the Evelyn Meador Library thought it might interest our patrons to find out how our Summer Reading Program went. As such, we decided that we would share some of our statistics for summer reading and show how great our summer went.
