Storygami @ Aldine

There was a celebration on the night of Monday, May 19th at the Aldine Library. Families gathered together for "Storygami" in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage Month. Parents and children enjoyed learning about origami and creating different animals by folding paper. It was a fun-filled evening for everyone.

Read-A-Thon This Saturday

Children Being Read To--Photo Courtesy of Jupiter ImagesThis Saturday the Barbara Bush Branch Library will host Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women as they hold their Read-A-Thon. Guest readers will read books continuously throughout the day. Every twenty minutes the topics will change. They will range from Spring Into Spring to Texas and the Wild, Wild, West.

The reading starts at 10am and will wind down just before we close at 5pm. You’ll also get a chance to meet authors Warren Hanson and Kathryn Friesen.

Are you a Book-aneer?

Now that “the spring has sprung,” you may want to spend more time outdoors (well, maybe after the city’s trees’ pollen production has subsided).  If so, why not plan one of your walks or trips to the park around a visit to the library? Whether you want to introduce your “little ones” to the wonderful realm of books, or whether they already love reading (or being read to), an escapade to one of our library’s storytimes may be quite an adventure!  Last week, Mrs. Donna talked about seeds and gardening, and this week, she will try to introduce you to her favorite pirates, and she promises they won’t be (too) scary.  Plus, she always shares with you some of her other beloved books.

So don’t dilly-dally!  We have the perfect times for you—after-breakfast and right-before-lunch:
