The Library is Fun for the Whole Family!

I’m sure you parents out there are thinking about what to do now that your kids are home ALL DAY during the summer! The school year has gotten you used to having a little peace and quiet during the day and now you’ve lost that without a good, legal way of getting it back. Fortunately, the Evelyn Meador Branch Library is here to help, with fun and activities for all ages.

Summer Science in June at the Parker Williams Branch Library

Tuesday, June 19th at 10:30 PM – Science Explorers – Liquid Measurement [5+]


Looking for some science for your little guys and gals? Science Explorers is a science programs for kids 5 and up to explore basic scientific principles. Come on down to the Parker Williams Branch Library on Tuesday, June 19th at 10:30 AM. This month, we will be exploring the volume of water through liquid measurements.

 

 Wednesday, June 20th at 5 PM – STEM Time -- Sound Amplifiers [8+]

Free Lunches for Children / Almuerzos gratuitos para niños

Food bank

Through a partnership with the Houston Food Bank, the Aldine Library is offering free lunches for children age 18 and under from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, from now through AUGUST 4. Quantities are limited.
Juntos con el Houston Food Bank, la Biblioteca Aldine ofrece almuerzos gratuitos para niños hasta 18 años de edad, de 12:00 pm a 1:00 pm, de lunes a viernes, desde ahora hasta el 4 de agosto. Las cantidades son limitadas.

This Week at the Library

Week two of the Summer Reading Program at the Kingwood Library! This Tuesday we have our regularly scheduled Toddler Time @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM. Lapsit Storytime is @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. Preschool Storytime will be @ 11 AM on Wednesday. We also have our Family Storytime presented on Saturday @ 10:30 AM where you can enjoy stories and a craft with your whole family! Tickets required upon entry for all storytimes. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

Family Fun Night at the Parker Williams Branch Library

Want to do something fun with your family but you get home late? Don’t fret! The Parker Williams Branch Library has you covered! Join us in the Library Community Room at 7 PM on a variety of Wednesdays throughout the summer so you don’t miss out on the summer fun.

Wednesday, June 13th at 7 PM – Family Fun Night – Clear Lake Music Lessons Inc. Rock Band [8+] 

This week, we will have a rockin’ good time with a set from the Clear Lake Music Lessons Inc. Rock Band. Get ready to rock, just please keep your socks on. 

Wednesday, June 27th at 7 PM – Family Fun Night – Dobie HS Theater Storytellers [5+]

Puppet Pizzazz at Maud Marks

Puppet PizzazzPuppet Pizzazz will be at Maud Marks on Monday, June 11, 2018. There will be a 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm performance. School age children will need their hands stamped in order to gain admission.

Silver Light Music Performance

What are two guys on #guitar and #saxophone? They are the musical duet "Silver Light"! Join us in the Meeting Room this Saturday, June 9th from 10:30 AM - 12 PM as Silver Light performs popular songs from the 1950's through 2017.

This week begins our summer reading program here at the Kingwood Library! LIBRARIES ROCK! 

MONDAY we have our Summer Kick Off Party @ 6 PM. There will be information about the Summer Reading Program, places to get signed up online, and a movie on the lawn @ 7:15 PM. Bring a blanket, and some bug spray, and sing along with us! 

Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off & Tie-Dye War!

The 2018 Summer Reading Program is about to begin! This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.” Come start things off with a Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off and Movie Night on June 4th starting at 4:00 PM, in the Teen Room. Sign up for a Summer Reading account, get information on upcoming Teen programs and prizes, make your own guitar picks, play Rock Band, video games, and more!

The fun does not stop there. At 6:00 PM, in the Teen Game Room, enjoy the movie, School of Rock, with some delicious popcorn and snacks.

Then, join us for our 6th annual Tie-Dye War! Beat the summer heat by pelting your friends with dye-filled squish balls on Wednesday, June 6, at 2:00 PM, outside by the flagpoles.

Permission slips are required and can be picked up from the library starting on June 1. Holi dye powder WILL stain clothes and may temporarily stain skin.

All programs are for teens and tweens entering grades 6-12.
