Children's Weekly Run Down!

CHILDREN’S WEEKLY RUN-DOWN! Week eight of the Summer Reading Program at the Kingwood Library! This Tuesday we have our regularly scheduled Toddler Time @ 10 AM and @ 10:30 AM. Lapsit Storytime is @ 11:15 AM on Tuesday and @ 11 AM on Thursday. Preschool Storytime will be @ 11 AM on Wednesday. This Saturday storytime is presented by H-E-Buddy @ 10:30 AM! Tickets required upon entry. Pick up your free ticket at the Children's Reference Desk before entering your story time. Tickets will be given to the first 30 children and their caregivers the day of the scheduled event.

LIBRARIES ROCK! 

MONDAY we have our sixth session of Maker Monday @ 2:15 PM! Libraries rock, and we've got the crafts to prove it! Join us every week as we create a new music-themed craft.

Houston Museum of Natural Science

Houston Museum of Natural ScienceThe Houston Museum of Natural Science will be at Maud Marks Monday, July 23rd at 1:30 pm to teach us about Sound Science! We will start stamping hands 30 minutes before the show starts. Seating is limited!

Have a FOMO? You Probably Should.

FOMO, as I’m sure you all know, is a Fear of Missing Out. It generally refers to the fear that people are going to do something fun without you and afflicts pretty much everyone at some point. If you’ve ever been worried about not being at a game, missing dinner, or have been stressed about what’s happening at home without you, you’ve had FOMO. So, let me tell you right now, if you don’t plan on going to the Evelyn Meador Branch Library this week, you are definitely MO’ing (Missing Out, if that’s not clear).

HC Animal Shelter Adoption Postponed Due to Heat

Due to the extreme heat and issued heat advisory for our area, the Harris County Animal Adoption event sponsored at the Parker Williams Library this July 21st from 11 AM to 2 PM has been postponed. 

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, asphalt in direct sun at 77 degrees is roughly 125 degrees. At 125 degrees, skin, including paws, can be damaged within 60 seconds. Please be wary when walking your furry friends today.

Join us in the Meeting Room this Saturday 7/21 at #KingwoodLibrary from 11 AM - 12 PM for an engaging hour featuring performances on keyboard & violin together with active audience participation. Harris County Animal Shelter Mobile Adoption [All Ages] - Saturday, July 21st from 11:30-3:30 PM

Indian Dance Performance and Workshop, July 17th!

 We are going to have an exciting event tomorrow, July 17, at the Barbara Bush Library! We will be having an Indian Dance performance and workshop. Children will learn basic dance techniques, hear stories, and get a chance to see items that relate to India. This program is free of charge and open to children of all ages, no ticket required. It will take place across the street at the Cypress Creek Christian Church community center, and will begin at 3pm. 

Teen Lock-In Permission Slip

Our annual Teen Lock-In is just a couple of weeks away, but the permission slip is available now!

Ready to sing along to your favorite Broadway hits at our annual Teen Lock-In? Stay after hours at the library and sing your favorites from Hamilton, Wicked, and more. Plus, enjoy some fun crafts and games. The lock-in will be on Friday, August 3, from 6:30-8:30 PM, in the Meeting Room.

Permission Slip is required. Permission slips can be picked up from the upstairs reference desk starting on Monday, July 16, and must be turned in by 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 1 (2 days before the Lock-In!).
