Summer Reading Program

Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off & Tie-Dye War!

The 2018 Summer Reading Program is about to begin! This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.” Come start things off with a Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off and Movie Night on June 4th starting at 4:00 PM, in the Teen Room. Sign up for a Summer Reading account, get information on upcoming Teen programs and prizes, make your own guitar picks, play Rock Band, video games, and more!

The fun does not stop there. At 6:00 PM, in the Teen Game Room, enjoy the movie, School of Rock, with some delicious popcorn and snacks.

Then, join us for our 6th annual Tie-Dye War! Beat the summer heat by pelting your friends with dye-filled squish balls on Wednesday, June 6, at 2:00 PM, outside by the flagpoles.

Permission slips are required and can be picked up from the library starting on June 1. Holi dye powder WILL stain clothes and may temporarily stain skin.

All programs are for teens and tweens entering grades 6-12.

Ready, Set, Rock!

Summer reading is here again and, as the theme suggests, it's going to rock! Registration starts in just 3 days on June 4th and La Porte will be kicking it off with a banging beginning of summer party at 3 pm with music, entertainment and snacks. You can check out our events calendar here, for a list of everything we're offering this summer, as well as information about the reading club itself and how to earn points towards cool prizes. We, as all as 16 other branches, will also be offering free meals provided by the Houston Food Bank.
