CANCELLED: Our bi-weekly meeting of Rocking Art with Ms. Devon will be cancelled on June the 27th in honor of our opening day celebration! Come in @ 4 PM instead and enjoy three different craft stations in our children’s area to celebrate our reopening!

Literacy Through Photography at Maud Marks

Literacy Through PhotographyLiteracy Through Photography will be here Monday, June 18th! There will be a 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm session for elementary students. There is limited seating. We will start stamping hands 30 minutes before the show.

Teen LittleBits & Movie Night!

This week, come by the Teen Room on Monday, June 18, at 1:30 PM to learn the basics of circuitry. Using LittleBits technology, you can snap together building blocks to create your own invention. For teens and tweens entering grades 6-12. (For younger children, please see the children’s summer reading calendar for their LittleBits classes.)

Then on Thursday, June 21, at 6:00 PM, enjoy a Libraries Rock Movie Night featuring The Rock himself! Watch Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with your friends. Snacks provided. (© 2017, Columbia Pictures, PG-13)

Music Expo: Learn about singing and playing

Ever wanted to make your rock star dreams a reality?  Today is the day!  Ask a variety of local musicians what it takes to play and sing, either as a hobby or as a professional career. Get your start at this music expo for all ages on Saturday, June 16 from 11am to 2pm.

Adults, Monday, 7/2 @ 6:30 PM - Summer Reading Program - Rockin' Food Demo!

Adults, please join us on Monday, July 2 at 6:30 PM as Freeman Staff host our "Rockin' Food Demo." Staff will make nachos with all of your favorite ingredients (chips, cheese sauce, taco meat, green onions, tomatoes, sour cream, jalapeños, etc). After the demo, attendees will be able to enjoy the nachos.

Summer Meals @ Barbara Bush Library

This summer, the Barbara Bush Library and The Houston Food Bank are partnering up to provide healthy lunches for kids. 

Lunches will be served on Mondays to Fridays  from 11:30am-12:30pm. On Mondays, lunches will be available in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room, and on Tuesdays-Fridays lunches will be available in our Robin Bush Activity Room. 

If you'd like more information on our Summer Kids Cafe, please give us a call at 832-927-7800.

The Library is Fun for the Whole Family!

I’m sure you parents out there are thinking about what to do now that your kids are home ALL DAY during the summer! The school year has gotten you used to having a little peace and quiet during the day and now you’ve lost that without a good, legal way of getting it back. Fortunately, the Evelyn Meador Branch Library is here to help, with fun and activities for all ages.

Tuesday, June 19th at 10:30 PM – Science Explorers – Liquid Measurement [5+]


Looking for some science for your little guys and gals? Science Explorers is a science programs for kids 5 and up to explore basic scientific principles. Come on down to the Parker Williams Branch Library on Tuesday, June 19th at 10:30 AM. This month, we will be exploring the volume of water through liquid measurements.

Through a partnership with the Houston Food Bank, the Aldine Library is offering free lunches for children age 18 and under from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, from now through AUGUST 4. Quantities are limited.
