Countdown to the End of Tax Season!

April has arrived and the end of tax season is looming!  Have you turned in your tax returns yet?  Don't worry, Maud Marks Library and AARP have you covered.  You still have 5 chances  to get your taxes done.  AARP will be here today, Friday, April 8, Monday, April 11, Friday, April 15, AND Monday, April 18.  All times are 10 AM- 2 PM.  

Don't wait until the last minute, get yours filed today!

Still in the Heart of Tax Season

Yes, the Maud Marks Library is closed tomorrow and AARP will not be here to help with tax returns.  Don't worry though!  There is plenty of time left in the tax season this year.  In fact, due a holiday in Washington D.C., your taxes are not due until April 18.  That means AARP will continue to be out here on Mondays and Fridays through April 18.  You can come get your returns done on a first come, first served basis on Mondays March 28, April 4, 11, and 18 AND Fridays April 1, 8, and 15.

FREE TAX HELP WITH AARP

There are only a few weeks left to get your taxes done.  The AARP Volunteers will be at the Katy Branch Library on Tuesdays, March 22, March 29, April 5, and April 12 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help you file your taxes.  Help is available on a first come, first served basis.  Please arrive by 3:00 p.m. to ensure your place in line.

TAX TIME

We have received the 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ forms and instruction booklets.  They are located in the library lobby.  The AARP volunteers will be here on Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help you prepare your taxes.  It is a first come, first served basis, so be prepared to wait.  Please be here by 3:00 p.m. to ensure your place in line.

It's that time again! W-2s are in and everyone's gearing up to get their income taxes filed and sent before the April deadline. If you are looking for forms, the Barbara Bush Library has a select few:

AARP Tax Assistance

 

The deadline to file taxes for 2015 is looming ever closer and AARP will be at Maud Marks library to offer free tax assistance for elderly and low-income individuals. This assistance began February 1 and will continue every Monday and Friday through April 15. AARP will be in our meeting room between the hours of 10 AM and 2 PM so please make sure you arrive between those times if you plan to take advantage of this service. Tax Forms and Assistance @ HCPL

If you are determined that 2016 will be the year you don’t wait until the last minute to file your federal income taxes (or even if you aren’t), Harris County Public Library will be here to help make the process as painless as we can.

But there have been some changes you need to know about, namely, that the IRS is providing a much more limited range of tax forms to libraries than in previous years. What this means is that HCPL branches will have on hand only the three basic forms: 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ.

This is a free service. Services begin on Monday, February 1. Available times are:

Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12 pm - 4 pm
Saturdays from 9 am - 12 pm.

AARP Returns with Tax Services

Tax SignTax season is here and AARP has returned to the Northwest Branch to assist you. Starting Friday, February 05, you can visit our meeting room, where AARP will be available to help you e-file or answer your questions. This is a walk-in service and appointments are not necessary. AARP will be here on certain dates and times, so please check our calendar.

Make sure you know what you documents you will need to bring with you by visiting here. If you can’t make it to the library, then there are other host locations in the area.

Free Tax Help with the AARP

AARP Free Tax Help
Begins February 2nd
Tuesdays and Fridays 1:00-5:00 PM

Please bring copy of last year’s return, W-2 forms from each employer, all 1099s, and receipts or cancelled checks for itemizing.  You must have Social Security card for self and dependents. 

First come, first served. Sign up at the Information Desk beginning at 10:00 AM on Tuesdays and on the sign-up sheet posted to the front doors after noon on Fridays.
