Free Tax Help with the AARP

tax helpAre you stumped by your taxes?  Have your taxes e-filed for free by the wonderful men and women of the AARP!  Please bring copy of last year’s return, W-2 forms from each employer, all 1099s, and receipts or cancelled checks for itemizing.  You must have Social Security card for self and dependents.  First come, first served.

Tax Help @ North Channel Library

taxesIt’s tax time again and that means it’s time to welcome back AARP to the North Channel Library.  AARP will be offering free tax assistance every Thursday from 12pm to 4pm through April 9th. Sign-up begins at 10am Thursday mornings only.  Please bring your tax return from last year as well as your W-2's and other papers for this year.

Tax Assistance

AARP volunteers have returned to Stratford and will be assisting people on Tuesdays from 11am-3pm. This service is free of charge, and they may be able to file your return on sight. The last day for tax assistance this year is Tuesday, April 14th.

AARP Returns with Tax Services

Tax ReminderTax season is here and AARP has returned to the Northwest Branch to assist you. Starting Monday, February 02, you can visit our meeting room, where AARP will be available to help you e-file or answer your questions. This is a walk-in service and appointments are not necessary. AARP will be here on certain dates and times, so please check our calendar.

Tax Forms and Assistance @ HCPL

If you are determined that 2015 will be the year you don’t wait until the last minute to file your federal income taxes (or even if you aren’t), Harris County Public Library will be here to help make the process as painless as we can.

But there have been some changes you need to know about, namely, that the IRS is providing a much more limited range of tax forms to libraries than in previous years. What this means is that HCPL branches will have on hand only the three basic forms: 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ.

Tax Help @ North Channel Branch Library

If you need help preparing your taxes, please come to the North Channel Branch Library  on Thursday April 10th  from noon to 4 pm. The experienced pros from AARP will be here for the LAST time this tax season to prepare tax returns for low income and elderly customers. Please bring your tax return from last year as well as your W-2's and other papers for this year. You may sign-up as early as 10 am on Thursday inside the North Channel Library. Free Tax Help

Do you need help filing your taxes?  Let the AARP volunteers file your taxes for free!  But you’ll need to hurry…their time is limited!  They will be here on Tuesday, April 8th; Friday, April 11th; and Tuesday, April 15th from 1:00-5:00 PM.  On Tuesdays, you can sign up at our Information Desk starting at 10:00 AM.  On Friday, the sign-up sheet will be posted on our front door by the AARP volunteers between 12:00 and 12:30 PM.

Help With Income Tax Forms

Tax form 1040It’s time again to fill out those pesky income tax forms.  Fortunately, AARP volunteers trained by the IRS will once again be at the Fairbanks Library 3 days per week to help people complete and file their federal income tax forms.  There are no age or income requirements for receiving help from the volunteers.  They will be here from February 1 through April 14, Mondays from 1 pm - 5 pm, Thursdays from 1 pm - 5 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am - 2 pm.  The volunteers offer assistance only in person (not by telephone) and only on a first come, first served basis (no appointments).
