Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Tomorrow’s Joe, TMS Entertainment put together a masterpiece of a series with Megalo Box.

Megalo Box is a “unique, raw, and awesome sports anime” (imdb).

Join us in the Library Community Room at the Parker Williams Branch Library for a few rounds on November 30th at 4:30 PM.

Teen Book Club--Scythe

ScytheAfter Thanksgiving, teens should join us for Teen Book Club! Teen Book Club will be Tuesday, November 27 from 4-5 PM. We will be eating pizza while we discuss the book Scythe by Neal Shusterman. You can stop by the front desk of the Spring Branch-Memorial Library to check out a special book club copy of this book.

Monday, November 26th at 6:30 PM – Chess Club [8 to Adult]

 

 

New to the Parker Williams Branch Library, we are exploring the interest in the Southbelt area for a Chess Club.

Chess is a two player, strategy game that is played by people all over the world.

Staff members will be available to teach beginners how to play.

Chess Club will be held on the Library Floor on November 26th, at 6:30 PM. 

Tuesday, November 20th from 1-5 PM – Magic: The Gathering Deck Building [8+]

 

 

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the Tuesday, November 20th at 1 PM to learn the basics on how to make a competitive deck and search through our library of cards to make your own in-house use deck.

Monday, November 19th from 6-7:30 PM – Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]

 

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the first and third Mondays from 6PM -7:30PM on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play.

For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

Monday, November 19th from 2 - 4 PM – Gaming – Fortnite Library Battle [8+]

 

For our community of players, we will be hosting a Fortnite Library Battle where we will have a 2V2 Playground match versus players located at the Evelyn Meador Branch.

There will be timed rotations based on the number of players we have.

This will be happening on Monday, November 19th from 2 to 4 PM in the computer lab.

If you have USB Xbox One or PS4 controller, you can bring it and hook into our computer as long as it has the USB cord attached (or USB wireless charging cord). 

Teen Events this Week!

It's a busy week at the library for teens!

First, if you’re a teen and interested in earning volunteer hours at the library by helping with programs, then the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is the place to be! Join TAG and meet up with other teens to work together to help plan teen programs, decorate the teen room, and make buttons for the monthly button battles. This month’s meeting will be on Monday, November 12, from 4:45-5:45 PM. We meet in the Teen Game Room.

Thursday, November 15th at 4:30 PM – Community Craft – Harvest Wreath [7+]

 

 

Join us at the Parker Williams Branch Library on November 15th at 4:30 PM in the Library Community Room for our Community Craft.

This month, we will be celebrating Fall by creating a Harvest Wreath to put on your door to show your neighborhood your Fall spirit.

There have been so many good shows released in anime throughout the years. These are anime that have passed the test of time, and captured fan boy/girl hearts over the years.

On November 16th at 5 PM, we’ll be finding out more about the secret counter-terrorist group Mithril and the importance of blending in during high school. 

Monday, November 12th at 5 PM – Drone Flying Club [7 to Adult]

The South Belt Ellington area has always been an innovative location for the expansion of aerospace.

With a grant from the Parker Williams and Harris County Friends of the Library, we have been able to purchase the equipment to begin our own drown flying club.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to fly a quadcopter, you can learn right here at the Parker Williams Branch Library on Monday, November 12th from 5 PM to 6 PM.
