Basic Life Skills – Credit Card Basics April 26th @ 5 PM [11+]

     If you want to buy a car, buy a house, or even get some essential for college, you need to have a credit score. What is a credit score? How does it work? How does someone build credit? How do I get the max out of my bonus points?

     These parts of the modern financial system will be explained in the simplest way possible. Get credit for attending at the Parker Williams Branch’s Library Community Room on April 26th at 5PM.

 

 

Teen TAG Meeting - April 20 @ 6:30 PM

If you're a teen and interested in volunteering at the library, the Teen Advisory Group is the place to be! Join TAG and meet up with other teens to work together to help prepare for teen programs, decorate the teen room, and make buttons for the monthly button battles. This month’s meeting will be on Thursday, April 20, from 6:30-7:30 PM. We meet in the upstairs conference room.

NEW ANIME BOOK CLUB

On Thursday, April 20 at 4:30 p.m. the Katy Branch Library will hold the first meeting of their new Anime Club for Tweens and Teens.  Find out the latest news in the anime world, discuss your favorite manga, watch some anime and play some games. Snacks provided. 

Hot Rhymes and Sour Beats

Shakespeare-pepperIn celebration of National Poetry month, we have a unique challenge for you. Try reciting Shakespeare while biting into a hot pepper. Or, if you can't take the heat, try reading a poem after eating some candy with super-sour pucker-power. We’ll provide something for you to read or you can use a poem of your choosing. [Original selections or materials must be approved by staff.] Hot Rhymes and Sour Beats is for all ages and will be on Wednesday, April 19, at 4pm. Come! It’ll be fun!

Teen Legos! - Tuesday, April 18 @ 4:30

Mr. Vincent Knight, a member of TexLUG (Texas Lego User Group), will be visiting the Kingwood Library to present a special program for teens all about Legos! If you love Legos and are ready to build, join us on Tuesday, April 18, at 4:30-5:30 PM, in the Meeting Room.

Earth Day is coming up! Come by the Teen Area on Monday, April 17, from 4:30-5:30 PM to celebrate by creating your own work of art by upcycling paper. All supplies generously supplied by the Friends of the Library-Kingwood (FOLK).

Henna Design Workshop April 29 at 2:00 pm

Teens and tweens aged 12 – 17 can come to the library on April 29 to learn about henna. Not only will they get to paint henna, they’ll get to create their own designs and learn the basics from experts. They’ll also get an introduction to Bollywood dancing. The program starts at 2:00 pm. Recycled Poetry Teen Program on April 25 at 4:30pm

Reuse old words to create new ones! Teens and tweens aged 12 – 17 can come in to the library on April 25 and make their own poetry by dismantling books and recreating their words. Learn to make poetry by collage, and mix and match meaning to make your own. The program starts at 4:30 pm.
