Teen Board Game Day - Tuesday, April 25 @ 4:30

Bring your own tabletop card and board games for this Teen Game Day meeting on Tuesday, April 25, from 4:30-5:30 PM, in the Teen Area. If you want to play D&D, Magic: the Gathering, or any other game, bring it and join with other teens to play! Not sure what to bring? Not a problem, the library will also provide games and chess.

The Fast Way to Good Pay

Computer careerWant a job with decent pay, but don’t want to spend 4 years in college? Consider technical school. On Monday, April 24th, at 3:00 pm, a representative from the Professional Career Training Institute will be at the library to talk about their programs in computer hardware, software, and networks; electrical installation and repair; and heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Basic Life Skills – Credit Card Basics April 26th @ 5 PM [11+]

     If you want to buy a car, buy a house, or even get some essential for college, you need to have a credit score. What is a credit score? How does it work? How does someone build credit? How do I get the max out of my bonus points?

     These parts of the modern financial system will be explained in the simplest way possible. Get credit for attending at the Parker Williams Branch’s Library Community Room on April 26th at 5PM.

 

 

Teen TAG Meeting - April 20 @ 6:30 PM

If you're a teen and interested in volunteering at the library, the Teen Advisory Group is the place to be! Join TAG and meet up with other teens to work together to help prepare for teen programs, decorate the teen room, and make buttons for the monthly button battles. NEW ANIME BOOK CLUB

On Thursday, April 20 at 4:30 p.m. the Katy Branch Library will hold the first meeting of their new Anime Club for Tweens and Teens.  Find out the latest news in the anime world, discuss your favorite manga, watch some anime and play some games. Snacks provided. 

Hot Rhymes and Sour Beats

Shakespeare-pepperIn celebration of National Poetry month, we have a unique challenge for you. Try reciting Shakespeare while biting into a hot pepper. Or, if you can't take the heat, try reading a poem after eating some candy with super-sour pucker-power. We’ll provide something for you to read or you can use a poem of your choosing. [Original selections or materials must be approved by staff.] Hot Rhymes and Sour Beats is for all ages and will be on Wednesday, April 19, at 4pm. Come! It’ll be fun!

Henna Design Workshop April 29 at 2:00 pm

Teens and tweens aged 12 – 17 can come to the library on April 29 to learn about henna. Not only will they get to paint henna, they’ll get to create their own designs and learn the basics from experts. They’ll also get an introduction to Bollywood dancing. The program starts at 2:00 pm.
