Teen Advisory Group - Mar. 16 @ 6:30 PM

If you're a teen and interested in volunteering at the library, the Teen Advisory Group is the place to be! Join TAG and meet up with other teens to work together to help prepare for teen programs, decorate the teen room, and make buttons for the monthly button battles. This month’s meeting will be on Thursday, March 16, from 6:30-7:30 PM. We meet in the upstairs conference room.

Basic Life Skills – Basic Safety March 22nd @ 5 PM [11+]

Having a safety first attitude stops us from burning ourselves on the stove, from drinking harmful chemicals, from getting hit by a motor vehicle, or from hurting our body while at work.


Join us to learn about some basic safety tips at home, on the road, and at work from the National Safety Council. Make your way safely to the Parker Williams Branch on March 22nd at 5PM.

Teen Coding with Robots - Wed. March 15 @ 4:30 PM

On Wednesday, March 15, from 4:30-5:30 PM, we’re learning how to code with robots at the Kingwood Branch Library! Using Blocky, a JavaScript coding language, teens can program Dash & Dot robots to navigate through an obstacle course.

Dash & Dot robots are part of Codename Gener8, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-focused program for teens.

Teen Anime Club - March 14 @ 4:30 PM

Anime Club will meet on Tuesday, March 14, at 4:30 PM in the downstairs meeting room. Meet up with fellow anime enthusiasts and talk all about anime and manga! Watch anime and find a new favorite series.

Community Craft – St. Patrick's Day March 17th @ 4:30-5:30 PM [9+]

 

Calling all future doctors to the Parker Williams Branch, we need to operate on some troubled leprechauns.

Join us on March 17th from 4:30 to 5:30 PM in the Library Community Room to create your own custom leprechaun Operation style game.

Teen 3D Printer Open Lab - Tonight, Mar 9 @ 6:30 PM

Celebrate Teen Tech Week by creating your own 3D printed object! Teens can come by and work at their own pace to learn the basics of TinkerCAD, an online 3D design website, and to create their own 3D objects to print out. Open Lab will be held tonight, March 9, from 6:30-7:30 PM, in the Computer Lab.

The 3D printer open lab is part of Codename Gener8, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-focused program for teens.

On Friday, March 17, at 3:00 pm, we will talk about the art of Helen Frankenthaler and then do watercolor paintings in Ms. Frankenthaler’s American abstract expressionist style. For all those who love monster movies and sci-fi, Pacific Rim is the perfect mash up. While watching the film, we are going to make kawaii (cute) Kaiju with puffy paint. Join us in the Library Community Room for snacks, drinks, craft, and fun.
 

 

TeenMakers: Robotics Edition

Are you a teen who's interested in learning more about coding and about robotics? Our TeenMakers this week is your chance. Teens and tweens in 6th grade and up are invited to come explore the world of robotics with LEGO Mindstorms.

This is a ticketed program from 3:30 - 4:40 PM on Thursday, March 9, 2017. Tickets will be available beginning at 3:15 PM. Come have fun and MAKE something.

Teen Takeout - March 6-18

Feeling a bit crafty and want to geek out? To celebrate Teen Tech Week, a Teen Takeout craft will be available to pick up at any time during March 6 - 18, while supplies last. Make your own Floppy Disk Notepad! Ask the upstairs reference desk for your free take-home kit, which includes all supplies and instructions.
