Teen DIY & A Movie – The Bourne Ultimatum (PG-13) 115 min. & RFID Wallets January 13th @ 4:00 PM [13+]

In honor of the release of Jason Bourne, we are going to watch The Bourne Ultimatum (PG-13), while making RFID wallets and learn about a few other spy devices.

A Monster Calls at the Library

We all have monsters in our dreams, but would you want to see them come to life? Teens and tweens, join us for some fun with prints on canvas this Tuesday, January 10th at 4 pm at the Galena Park Branch Library. Based on the book "A Monster Calls" by Patrick Ness and the new movie coming out, we will create our monsters using acrylic paints and everyday items. Teen Maker Space: 3D Holograms

Come to the Teen Maker Space and learn how to make your own 3D Hologram image. The program will be Wednesday, January 11 beginning at 4:00 pm. For ages 10-17.

Building Life Skills – Meal Prep January 11th @ 5 PM [7+]

     We all need to eat. That’s a fact. As the new year starts, we typically want to shed some of the weight that we added on form all of those delicious holiday treats.

     Join us on January 11th at 5PM in the Library Community Room at the Parker Williams Branch Library. We will be learning how to plan a week’s worth of meals, create a shopping list, and the essentials of preparing your food ahead of time so that you have a healthy option when you just don’t feel like cooking. 

 

Teen Textiles Registration Open

A New Year! A New Class! A New Time! Teen Textiles is back with one class for both beginning and intermediate teen students (Grades 6-12)

Every Wednesday, from January 18 through April 26, from 5:00-6:00 PM, teens can learn how to sew with Creativity Shell. All participants, beginning and intermediate students, have the chance to participate in the Creativity Rocks! Fashion Show in April.

Registration is REQUIRED for all students and class has limited seating. Registration is open from January 3 through February 8, or until class is full. Register once for the whole semester. Register online, by phone, or at the upstairs Reference Desk.

*Permission slips must be signed by a parent/guardian before starting class. Permission slips can be picked up starting January 3 or can be signed day of program.

Eats & Treats Cooking Club!

  Do you want to learn the life skill of cooking before moving out of your parent's house?  Or do you like making yummy treats for you and your friends?   Come out to learn how to make Any-Fruit-Will-Do Muffins on Monday, October 17 at 4 pm as part of the Eats & Treats Cooking Club.  All teens 12-18 are welcome!

Teen Zone: Miss Peregrine

Come join us this Tuesday, September 20th at 4 pm and celebrate the release of the movie Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children!  We will discuss the book Miss. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs and you can  make your own pair of wings to honor the book and the movie release.  Don't forget to check out the book! Who Am I? Teen Contest Winner!

 

Congratulations to the winner of our teen Who Am I? Contest: Kaylie Reynolds!  Kaylie was one of five teens who correctly identified 15 scientists from biographic clues.  After a random drawing she won the $50 gift card to Fandango.com, a movie ticket website.  Congratulations to everyone who entered!
