Teen Program

Teen Dumbledore's Army - Oct. 11 @ 6:15

Last month was the first meeting of Dumbledore's Army! Teens were able to craft their own wands, get their wand permit, and take a quiz to find out what their wand was made of. If you missed the meeting last month, don't despair! We are meeting up again this Thursday, October 11, at 6:15 PM.

This month may get a bit spooky as we are going to make our own dementors. The craft can be a bit messy, so wear appropriate clothing! Hope to see you there!

For teens and tweens in grades 6-12.

Written in the Stars: READ!

Welcome to the beginning of our National Teen Reads Week! This is an annual celebration of our teen literature, and a time where we encourage our teens to read more (as opposed to our normal agenda, which is to discourage reading and hide books. We are a library after all.). However, if you aren’t a teen, don’t let that discourage you from celebrating this week. Everyone can come to the library and do something to participate in this amazing event. Here are some of our suggestions on how to reach for the stars at the library this week:

Monday, October 15th from 6-7:30 PM – Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the first and third Mondays from 6PM -7:30PM on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play.

For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

A Special Thank You to Strike Zone for their generous donation of Magic: The Gathering cards.

Teen Advisory Group- Oct 8 @ 4:45

Teens! What programs do you want to attend at the library? Anime Club? Dungeons & Dragons Group? Crafts, 3D Design, or Robotics? If you’re a teen and interested in earning volunteer hours at the library by helping with programs, then the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) is the place to be! Join TAG and meet up with other teens to work together to help plan teen programs, decorate the teen room, and make buttons for the monthly button battles. This month’s meeting will be on Monday, October 8, from 4:45-5:45 PM. We meet in the Teen Game Room.

For teens and tweens in grades 6-12. For more info, call the library at 832-927-7830.

Friday, October 12th from 4 PM to 6 PM - Anime Club Classic – Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV-PG) [10+]

“A squadron of giant robot pilots of a beleaguered Earth colony bring the war to their oppressive home planet.” – imdb.com

There have been so many good shows released in anime throughout the years. In response to a rise in interest, we are adding session of Anime Club dedicated to the Classics.

These are anime that have passed the test of time, and captured fan boy/girl hearts over the years.

On October 12th from 4-6PM, we’ll be following the path of four secret operatives as they fight to free their homes in space.

ACT Practice Test - Oct. 13 @ 12:30 PM!

Want to practice before you take the ACT? Join us for a free ACT practice test administered by the Princeton Review on Saturday, October 13, from 12:30-4:30 PM, in the Children’s Activity Room. Registration is required as space is limited. Please call 832-927-7830 or register online.

For high school teens in grades 9-12. For more info, call the library at 832-927-7830.
