Teens: Celebrate Winter at Club Anime and K-Pop Club

Teens, celebrate the beginning of the winter season with Club Anime on Tuesday, December 5th at 7pm and K-Pop Club on Thursday, December 7th at 4:30pm. 

For Club Anime, we will be doing a White Elephat Swap. Bring a weird, wacky item and wrap it up. Nothing to swap, not problem because we have extras. After all the packages are open, then the fun begins as we swap and bargain for the best haul. 

At K-Pop Club, learn about winter holidays in Korea along with the latest in new music and dramas. Sample Korean snacks and vie for Kpop prizes. 

STEM Time – Science of Milk and Cookies December 6th @ 5 PM [7+]

 Why are milk and cookies such an alluring combination?

Are there some magical properties of universe at play?

Join Mr. John in the Library Community Room on December 6th at 5 PM as he breaks down the basic chemical process of baking cookies and the magically delicious elements that make up milk.

Cookies and milk to be provided by the generosity of the Parker Williams Friends of the Library.

Spring Branch-Memorial Library Teen Book Club

 

Join the Spring Branch-Memorial Library Teen Book Club as we discuss When you reach me by Rebecca Stead. We’ll eat pizza and reveal our brand new book club name.

We’ll also make our own pet rocks, since the book is set in the 70s!

Teens: Get Your Game On @ the Library

So what is G.O.A.T.: Gaming on a Table? It's a teen program that focuses on tabletop gaming, rpgs (Role Playing Games), and CCGs (Collectible Card Games). We have games on hand but you are also welcome to bring your own games and handheld devices (Switch, 3DS, etc.). We meet the last Thursday of the month at 6pm. No sign up is required but we do ask that participants be ages 12-18 years old. So join us for an evening of gaming!

Barbara Bush Holiday Gathering

Join us for a Holiday Gathering on Saturday, December 2nd from 1pm to 3pm at the Cypress Creek Christian Church & Community Center (across from the library). 

We will have food, crafts, music, and Santa will be making a visit. You can check out and return books as well as get a library card. Bring the kids and join us for a fun afternoon! 

 

Aldine Library, November 20-22

Cork ornaments[En español abajo] In case you’re wondering, the library will be open our normal hours on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 20- 21. (Monday, 1-8pm, and Tuesday, 10am-7pm.)  On Wednesday, we will be open 1-5pm. We will be closed for Thanksgiving Thursday-Sunday.
We have a lot to offer you on Monday and Tuesday, though!
Our Technology Specialist will teach an Introduction to Microsoft Word class from 5:00-6:30 pm on Monday (in Spanish) and Tuesday (in English).
We will have a special class at 4pm on Monday to show how to get ready for the US Citizenship Test using the USCIS app or the library’s free ProCitizen database.
At Krafty Korner, on Tuesday at 1pm, we will be making ornaments from wine corks. Supplies are limited, so registration is required.

For any teens who embody truth, justice, or are on Thanksgiving Break, the Parker Williams Branch is hosting a special mid-day Teen DIY and a Movie presentation of Wonder Woman in the Library Community Room on November 20th at 2:30 PM.

While watching the movie, we will be designing Wonder Woman t-shirts, including a gold Wonder Woman inspired iron on.

Materials and snacks generously provided by the Friends of The Parker Williams Library.

Everyone - Monday, 11/20 @ 3 PM - NaNoWriMo Write-In!

 

November is National Novel Writing Month! In support of NaNoWriMo, the library will host write-ins for aspiring authors. Bring your laptop, journal, or any other writing tools you need to work on your novel!

Teens: Find Your Place in the Sun with NASA @ My Library

Teens, what do you know about the sun? Explore how the sun affects our lives, bodies, and the Earth through experimentation. Create a UV reactive wristband and other projects on Thursday, November 16th at 4:30pm.
