Teen Program

Teen Rock Photo Holders & Book Club!

On Monday, June 25, at 1:30 PM, create a fun piece of art with rocks that can hold your favorite pictures, notes, or mementos. Paints and rocks will be provided. Just be sure to wear your painting clothes! Program will be held in the Teen Room.

Then on Wednesday, June 27, at 4:30 PM, come to the first meeting of the Kingwood Library’s new Teen Book Club. Talk about books, eat food, maybe play a game or two. This month’s theme is “Reader’s Choice.” Mystery, Fantasy, Graphic Novel, etc….Whatever you want to read, read it and share with the group. Teen Book Club will meet in the Teen Game Room.

Teens: Get Ready for Blacklight Games

Teens, get our your neon and fluorescent clothes for this year's Blacklight Games on Thursday, June 28th at 6pm! Play blacklight dodgeball and parachute plus a few new surprises! 

This program is for ages 12-18 years old.

Infinity War got you down? What better way to pick yourself up than with a hero you know is alive? Ant-Man! Join us at the Parker Williams Branch on Monday, June 25th at 3 PM in the Library Community Room to pick up our spirits while creating some of our own Super Heroes like Cowboy Wolverine or Robot Aqua Space Man-Guy. 

Teen LittleBits & Movie Night!

This week, come by the Teen Room on Monday, June 18, at 1:30 PM to learn the basics of circuitry. Using LittleBits technology, you can snap together building blocks to create your own invention. For teens and tweens entering grades 6-12. (For younger children, please see the children’s summer reading calendar for their LittleBits classes.)

Then on Thursday, June 21, at 6:00 PM, enjoy a Libraries Rock Movie Night featuring The Rock himself! Watch Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with your friends. Snacks provided. (© 2017, Columbia Pictures, PG-13)

Anime Club – Cowboy Bebop (TV-MA) [12+] - Friday, June 22nd from 4 PM to 6 PM

This summer, we are showing some anime that rocks!

Starting off with Cowboy Bebop, we will get the full jazz experience from Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts as we rocket around Mars.

Join us for 2 hours of jazz infused action packed anime and Pocky in the Library Community Room on Friday, June 22nd from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Parker Williams Branch Library.

I’m sure you parents out there are thinking about what to do now that your kids are home ALL DAY during the summer! The school year has gotten you used to having a little peace and quiet during the day and now you’ve lost that without a good, legal way of getting it back. Fortunately, the Evelyn Meador Branch Library is here to help, with fun and activities for all ages.

Teen Thursdays in June

Thursdays at the Parker Williams Branch Library will be hosting a variety of different programs and projects for teens 12 and up at 3 PM in the Library Community Room. 

Thursday, June 7th at 3 PM – Teen Thursday – Silent PW Library [12+]


This week, we will be playing a variety of Silent Library challenges while trying to not bust up laughing.   

 Thursday, June 14th at 3 PM – Teen Thursday – Bleach and Stencil [12+]

This week, our project will be working with black fabric, stencils, and a light bleach solution. See the amazing things you can do with a little electrified salt water.     

Thursday, June 21st at 3 PM – Teen Thursday – 8-Bit Art [12+]

Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off & Tie-Dye War!

The 2018 Summer Reading Program is about to begin! This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.” Come start things off with a Teen Summer Reading Kick-Off and Movie Night on June 4th starting at 4:00 PM, in the Teen Room. Sign up for a Summer Reading account, get information on upcoming Teen programs and prizes, make your own guitar picks, play Rock Band, video games, and more!

The fun does not stop there. At 6:00 PM, in the Teen Game Room, enjoy the movie, School of Rock, with some delicious popcorn and snacks.

Then, join us for our 6th annual Tie-Dye War! Beat the summer heat by pelting your friends with dye-filled squish balls on Wednesday, June 6, at 2:00 PM, outside by the flagpoles.

Permission slips are required and can be picked up from the library starting on June 1. Holi dye powder WILL stain clothes and may temporarily stain skin.

Teens: Celebrate Summer with Candy, Geodes, and K-Pop!

School's out and the party is on at the library! On Tuesday, June 5th at 7pm, Club Anime presents Kawaii Candy. Make your favorite Japanese DIY candy kits and sample Japanese treats.

On Wednesday at 3pm, break open geodes at Geodes and Jewels! 

On Thursday, June 7th at 3pm, join us for K-Pop Club! Listen to the latest hits, make a special craft, and taste Korean snacks.

Club Anime is for ages 13-18, Geodes and Jewels and Kpop Club is for grades 6-12.
