Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+] - Saturday, January 27 from 2-4 PM

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on January 27th on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play from 2-4 PM.

For those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

HERO&S Foundation Nutrition and Exercise Seminar [13+] - Saturday, January 27 at 10:30 AM

As we start a new year, some of us want a new start with our health.

The HERO&S Foundation is a local 501(3)c non-profit organization dedicated to educating and promoting a healthy eating lifestyle and practical physical fitness routines to youth, first responders, military, and the general public.

Please join us on January 27th at 10:30 AM in Room 3 of the Parker Williams Branch library.

There will be a light training session included with the discussion.

Please be prepared with comfortable shoes and clothing that you can move in. 

Teen DIY and a Movie – The Maze Runner (PG-13) and Glade Duct Tape Pouch [13+] - Friday, January 26 at 4 PM

With the fast approaching release of the third installment of the Maze Runner Series, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, the Parker Williams Branch will be playing the first movie, The Maze Runner,  on January 26th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room.

While watching the movie, we will be making Glade Duct Tape Pouches.

Join Mr. John on January 24th at 5 PM in the Library Community Room to learn some basics of how to lose weight, a basic meal plan, and some basic exercises that will help with strength and flexibility.

The Parker Williams Branch Anime Club is exploring the interesting world of Hunter X Hunter.

Join us in the Library Community Room on January 19th at 5 PM to watch and wonder at the different Hunters who find their fortunes in many ways.

Schedule booked up, but you'd like to share about a great read?  Want to learn about some books before you have to read it for school?  Join the Atascocita Teens online book club.  We read 10 books a year.  Tell your thoughts about a book, help out your friends in finding a good read, and find that next great read for yourself.

Book Buddies

book buddies We are now accepting applications for Big and Little Buddies for the Spring session of Book Buddies! Harris County Public Library's Book Buddies program pairs trained teen volunteers in 7th through 12th grade (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.

This session of Book Buddies will run from February 12 to April 23, 2017 at the Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library. The Buddy pairs will meet together once a week on Monday from 5:00 to 5:45 PM.

If you have a child or teen interested in being a Big Buddy or a Little Buddy, please contact Kimberly Clutter (Kimberly.clutter@hcpl.net) for an application. Applications are also available in the Children’s Area. Applications must be turned in by Friday, January 26th at the LSC-Tomball Community Library.

Community Craft – Vietnamese Noodle Salad and Bake-A-Plate [All Ages] Friday, January 12 at 4 PM

 

As the New Year comes around again, we start shifting our focus to healthier eating.

Join us at the Parker Williams Branch on January 12th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room to learn how to make a Vietnamese Noodle Salad.

Children are invited to draw on a ceramic plate that will be baked in the oven making their scribbles permanent.

Food and family fun will ensue!
