Starlord and his crew have returned in theaters for the second installment of GOTG. For those who may need a refresher or to see the first movie, we are going to be spinning Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 while making Baby Groots.
Join us on Friday, May 12th at 4 PM in the Library Community Room for food, fun, and Groots.

 

Summer Volunteer Orientation May 19th @ 5 PM [12+]

It’s time for teens, twelve and up, to get those summer plans started.

On May 19th in the Library Community Room at 5PM, we are going to be having our Summer Volunteer Orientation. All those who want to fulfill volunteer hours for National Honors Society or Junior National Honors Society, school requirements, or just for something fun and different to do.

Teen Origami

May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month. To celebrate teens can visit the Teen Room at any time during the month to create their own Origami. Just look for the origami paper and instructions and have fun folding!

May The Fourth Star Wars Celebration The Force Awakens (PG-13) 136 Min May 4th @ 3:45 PM [13+]

In celebration of the Star Wars universe, the Parker Williams Branch will be hosting a showing of The Force Awakens (PG-13, 136 min) in the Library community room starting at 3:45 PM on May the Fourth (4th).

Join us for some popcorn, drinks, and a few Jedi activities!

Friends' Annual Meeting

Join us Monday, May 8th at 7pm for our Friends' Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place in our Earl Elliott Meeting Room and it is open to everyone! 

Our Annual meeting is a great way to interact with staff, volunteers, and our Friends of the Library. We will have a great guest speaker, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, Lincoln Goodwin. Our volunteers will also be honored during our Annual Meeting.

TEEN ADVISORY BOARD

Hey teens, consider joining our Teen Advisory Board to help plan our teen programs.  We want your ideas on how we can make the library teen friendly.  Plus, get volunteer hours for participating.  Our first meeting will be on Thursday, April 27 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.  We will be meeting the fourth Thursday of every month.

Job FlyerDo you have kids ages between the ages of 16 and 24? Are you looking for an opportunity for them to obtain skills they will use for the rest of their professional lives (and get them out of the house)?

Workforce Solutions will be having a Job Readiness Workshop at the Galena Park Branch Library for those ages 16-24! Attendees will benefit from some resume and interview tips, as well as be informed of job opportunities in the area.

Teen Board Game Day - Tuesday, April 25 @ 4:30

Bring your own tabletop card and board games for this Teen Game Day meeting on Tuesday, April 25, from 4:30-5:30 PM, in the Teen Area. If you want to play D&D, Magic: the Gathering, or any other game, bring it and join with other teens to play! Not sure what to bring? Not a problem, the library will also provide games and chess.
