Have you been affected by Hurricane Harvey?  This area of town, just west of the reservoirs has been hit hard by the subsequent flooding.  Thousands of people have lost their homes, cars, and belongings to Harvey.  If you are one of the many in our area, please know that the Maud Marks Library wants to help.

I could not return my library materials because I could not reach the library due to high water. Am I still responsible for the late fees? 

If you return your books by September 15, you will not accrue late fees.

UPDATE: Most HCPL Branches Resume Normal Business Hours & Programming, Monday, Sept. 11.

First Responders make use of Parking Lot

While the Maud Marks branch is closed our parking lot is being put to good use by first responders from Dallas as you can see in the photo.   Thanks to all these great folks for helping us out!

Book Sale this Saturday

Books, DVDs, and CDs are on sale at bargain prices this Saturday, August 26th from 10am till 4pm. Many
items are in mint condition and there is a wide variety – everything from children’s books to college textbooks, cookbooks, fiction, romance, music and more. The Friends of Maud Marks Library will have all their inventory on display and for sale.

This is a great way to improve your personal library, pick up some great gifts and support the library. Proceeds from the sale support the library with its collections and programs such as summer reading program, Saturday computer classes, Children's Afterschool programs, the Seniors Timeless Travelers trips, our ESL and citizenship programs. Color Me Relaxed for Adults

    If relaxation is on your agenda for this week, then come to the Maud Marks Library for "Color Me Relaxed". It's a time for coloring, chatting, listening to relaxing music, and having a little snack. The coloring pages and pencils are provided, but you can bring your own if you'd like. The adult coloring time this month is Tues., Aug 22, 2017, at 2 pm. See you there. 

Yoga is Back!

Yoga took a break early this month due to our Volunteer Fair.  It is back this weekend though!  Join us on Saturday at 3 PM for our next yoga class.  Yoga can be a very relaxing and centering exercise program.  Come as we learn about the benefits and basic how-to of yoga.  We would love to see you this Saturday as we exercise our minds and bodies.  Pre-registration is recommended.  Click here to register.

The People's Law School and Elder Law

                                          

The People's Law School may be just what you've been looking for. On Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 10 am come learn about various topics related to Elder Law, such as asset protection, guardianship, Medicaid, probate, end of life planning, and more. The Maud Marks Library wishes to say "THANK YOU!!!" To the Katy community.  You came out in full force last Saturday for our Build a Better World... Volunteer Fair.  We had almost 200 people walk through our door to visit our many vendors and offer assistance to others in the community.  There were so many people, organizations ran out of brochures and applications.  Don't worry though if you missed it.  We still have a list of organizations involved here at the library we are more than willing to share with you.  Just come in and we can get you that list.  On behalf of all participants, thank you for all your help!
