NASA Day @ My Library

 Do you have an astronomer in the family?  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an astronaut and actually spend time in space?  At the Maud Marks Library, we have TWO space related programs coming up over the next week to feed your inner scientist!

First up, on Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30 PM, astronomers of all ages are invited to come See the Stars!  The Astronomy Society at hthe University of Houston will be here to teach us all about stars and other things you might see in our local sky.  They will even be bringing telecopes with them so you can seee for yourself what the stars and planets look like.

Book Sale Time

   It's the first book sale of the new year sponsored by the Friends of the Maud Marks Library. Find some great bargains on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, as you browse a room filled with books of all kinds. There are hardbacks and paperbacks, fiction and non-fiction, for both adults and children; including DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines. All the proceeds benefit the library and its programs. Doors open at 10 am and close at 4pm. See you there!

Facebook is the world's most popular social networking site. It makes it possible to connect with your family and friends online. On Tuesday, January 9 at 7:00 PM, Maud Marks Library will be offering a computer class on Facebook in the computer lab. In this class you will learn how to set up an account and how to get in touch with friends while ensuring your privacy.

iPhone 101 @Maud Smith Marks Branch Library

Did Santa bring you a new iPhone? Did you already have one and want to get better at using it? Are you thinking about getting one and want to see what the hype is all about? No matter what your stance, The Maud Smith Marks Branch has  got you covered.

We will be debuting a new class this month and it is all about the iPhone. Learn how to navigate around the phone. Learn the basics of using the pre-installed apps, downloading apps, and become efficient in using your device. Classes will run on January 9 at 10 AM and again on January 23 at 7 PM.

  Happy New Year and welcome to 2018! Did you make any resolutions? If one of them is to learn how to download ebooks for free then you've come to the right place. Click on this link to Register for a hands-on workshop scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 2:30 pm at the Maud Marks Library. Bring your HCPL library card and your device and we will show you how to find and download e-books and e-audio books for free. If you do not have a library card you can apply for one when you arrive. Microsoft Word: The Basics

Do you need to type documents for work or personal use? The Maud Marks Library will be offering a Basic Microsoft Word Class in the computer lab on January 2 at 10 AM and 7 PM. This class is a basic introduction to Microsoft Word. Learn how to use the tool bar and create a word document. So come on by the Maud Marks Library on Tuesday, January 2 at 10 AM and 7 PM and start typing word documents in no time!

Library Closing Dates and Time Changes for the Holidays

There will be some changes in the library's hours for the upcoming holidays. While our physical location will be closed you can still return items in the book drop just to the left of our entrance. You can also - always - check out great books, movies and music through our eMedia catalogs.

We've got Overdrive that's great for audiobooks and ebooks, Oneclick for many of your musical needs and we even have streaming movies available through Kanopy. There's even some great additional offerings for kids through our Tumblebooks Library, some of them interactive.
