eBooks For Everyone!

Tired of carrying those heavy library books from place to place? Do you wish that you could just check out books from the convenience of your own home? Well, you are in luck! The Maud Marks Library will be offering an eBooks class this Saturday, December 9 at 2:30 PM in the computer lab. In this class you will learn what an eBook is and the services the Harris County Public Library offers for them.

Please bring your mobile device and we'll show how to find and download eBooks and/or audio books. Please bring your library card. If you don't have a device you can practice on ours. So come on by this Saturday to the Maud Marks Library, and become an eBook reader!

Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint

Are you interested in getting more out of your Microsoft PowerPoint program?  Maud Marks Library has the class for you!  On Saturdays, December 2 at 1 PM, and December 9 and 16 at 10 AM, Mr. Uday Chittal will be going beyond the basics of how to use Microsoft PowerPoint.  Really learn the intricacies of this program.  This is a three part class.  Participants should be able to come to all three classes.  Basic keyboard and mouse skills are required.  Seating for this is extremely limited. Be Thankful and GIve

  What do you have to be thankful for? Your health, your family, a roof over your head, food on the table, shoes on your feet? This is a time of year to be thankful for all we have. It is also a time to reach out and help others who may not be as fortunate as we are, and after Harvey that population has increased significantly. If you want to help a family in need by donating a toy for Christmas, please bring a new unwrapped toy to the Maud Marks Library to help put a smile on a little one's face for Christmas. The Toys for Tots Toy Drive runs through Dec. 14, 2017.  

Share Your Holidays Food Drive at Maud Marks

Share Your Holidays Food Drive PosterOn Friday, December 8th, from 6am to 6 pm, the Maud Marks Branch will be accepting non perishable food donations for Channel 13’s annual “Share Your Holidays” Food Drive. The library has participated every year since it opened in 1993. All food donated will be distributed by Katy Christian Ministries and benefit families in the Katy area. Other drop off locations include Bagel Cafe, Katy Budget Books, HCPL's Katy Branch Library, Fort Bend's Cinco Ranch Library, KISD's Taylor High School, KISD's Memorial Parkway Junior High, KISD's Hayes Elementary, and Katy Christian Ministires.

Seniors: Live Your Best Life Now!

Are you or your family member living your golden years to your fullest?  The Maud Marks Library wants to help out with that.  On the third Friday of every month, we host a Senior Living Seminar.  This month, on Friday, November 17 at 3 PM, we will be exploring home care.  There are so many options out there, how do you know what is right for you?  We want to help you discover the benefits and pitfalls of home care.  Learn what it provides and how to best utilize thesse services.  Come discover what kind of life is best for you or you loved one.  Click here to sign up for this seminar and see what else the Maud Marks Library offers.

Microsoft Word: The Basics

Do you need to type documents for work or personal use? The Maud Marks Library will be offering a Basic Microsoft Word Class in the computer lab on November 21 at 1 PM. This class is a basic introduction to Microsoft Word. Learn how to use the tool bar and create a word document. So come on by the Maud Marks Library on Tuesday, November 21 at 1 PM and start typing word documents in no time!

Medicare Questions? We Have You Covered!

It's that time of year again.  We are well into the Open Enrollment Period for Medicare.  But you need to hurry, the last day is December 7!  There are so many different options, plans, and parts out there.  So, how do you choose the Medicare Plan that is right for you?  

The Maud Marks Library wants to help.  Come this Saturday, November 11 at 1 PM to learn how to Unlock Medicare.  Debrorah Stelly will be here to answer any questions you might have.  Topics covered will include all parts of Medicare and what they cover, estimated out of pocket expenses, and deductibles and other expenses located in the “donut hole.”  Annual Enrollment Period has begun.  Come get your answers at the library.

Landlord/Tenant Law Questions?

 The Katy Bar Association's People's Law School will have representatives here at the Maud Marks Library on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 10 am to cover the topic of landlord/tenant law.They will discuss rental applications, residential leases, evictions, and much more. Computer Questions? We Have the Answers.

 The Maud Marks Library is offering a new service on Fridays, from 1-3 PM in our computer lab.  Write down all your computer questions and bring them in. We will have someone here to help answer your questions. There is no need to register. The dates for the month of November are Fridays, November 3,10, and 17. 

Holiday Book Bash!

Treat yourself to a good book this holiday season!

At the Maud Marks Library we are big fans of writers, and it’s time to celebrate them! Our 4th annual Book Bash will be on Saturday, November 4, between 2-4:30 PM. Mix and mingle with award winning  authors where there will be two hours of storytime, crafts, author talks, and  prizes for those attending.  

Children’s authors will be reading  their books and doing crafts with the kids. Adults can attend one or more of our many authorpanels which/include, Doing Historical Research, Path to Publishing, Do You Have What It Takes? and Creating Villains. There will be additional prizes for teachers and other educators. 
Autographed copies of the author’s books will be available for purchase.
