TeenMakers: Learn Origami!

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and we're celebrating! During our TeenMakers program, from 3:30 PM - 4:45 PM, we will be learning the art of origami. Due to limited supplies this is a ticketed program with tickets available beginning at 3:15 PM. 

The Apple iPad!

Do you have a brand new iPad? Next Tuesday on May 16th at 7:00 PM, the Maud Smith Marks Library will be offering a computer class on the Apple iPad. Bring your iPad and follow along as we show you how to make the most of your new tablet. Learn how to operate your iPad, explore the built in apps and how to download additional apps, music and more!

DIY Workshop and Cherry Blossoms

  It's that time of year again for the cherry blossoms, well, maybe not here in Texas, but we can recreate them with paint stamping and origami at our DIY Workshop at the Maud Marks Library. Join us on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 2 pm.  Registration is limited so sign up today.

Veteran's Resource Fair

  Join us at the Maud Marks Library for our Veteran's Resource Fair on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 1 to 4 pm. Learn about the services and benefits provided to former military personnel that go unclaimed every year.  Representatives will be here to answer your questions and provide information. 

Friends of the Maud Marks Library Book Sale

  Be sure to join us for the Friends of the Maud Marks Library Used Book Sale from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, this Saturday, April 29, 2017. There will be lots of hardback and paperback books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and more.  Prices are right and the people are friendly.  Membership is not required but if you would like to join the Friends of the MM Library applications will be available. Support your library.

Color Me Relaxed!

What is the coolest way for adults to relax and have a good time? Coloring! The Maud Marks Library has an adult coloring hour on the 4th Tuesday of every month. Join us on Tuesday, April 25, at 2 PM, as we color, chat, have a snack, and listen to relaxing music. We will provide plenty of pages for coloring and colored pencils, although, you are more than welcome to bring your own.

Learn About Avoiding Probate and Estate Planning

Do you have questions about Avoiding Probate and Estate Planning? Did you know that probate law is changing? Then you'll want to attend tonight's program. Mr. Archer, an estate lawyer, joins us from 7 PM - 9 PM on April 18 to answer all of your questions about probate and estate planning. Learn what you need to know to avoid probate, the documents needed for estate planning, and more. Register here.

Celebrate Local Artist!

The Maud Marks Library invites YOU to come celebrate local artists with us this week.  We have so many opportunities for you to meet the many artist living here in Katy and the Houston area.  First, join us tonight, Monday April 17, at 6:30 pm as Gilberto Mello talks about his art and creative process.  Rick Spacek will be here tomorrow, Tuesday April 18 at 6:30 to give his artist talk and show ups what it takes to carve wood.  On Thursday April 20 at 3:30, Zineb Trifi will be at a very special TeenMakers to show teens and pre-teens the creative side of painting.  

Finally, on Friday April 21, join all our artists for a special Meet the Artist reception at 7 PM.  Come view theier work and find out how they get their inspiration!

Last Chance for Tax Assistance

                                                                                                                                                               Have you procrastinated and still need help filing your federal income taxes? Here at the Maud Marks Library the final day for tax assistance with the AARP volunteers is Monday, April 17, 2017, from 10am - 2 pm. The Library will be closed on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Sunday. If you need assistance with your taxes please arrive early on Monday for the first come first serve sign up. Bring all the necessary paperwork and identification. 

How do you work this thing?!?

Did you have a new laptop or computer, but are not sure how to use it? That’s ok, come by the Maud Marks Library on April11th at 10:00 AM. We will be offering a Computer 101 class this Tuesday in the computer lab. In this class, you will discover what a computer does, learn the basic terminology, and how to start a computer. This class will help you become familiar with Windows operating system and show you how to use the mouse. The class is designed for new computer users. Become a computer whiz in no time!
