Houston Food Bank Will Provide Nutritious, Free Lunches to Kids at Our Library This Summer

Harris County Public Library is proud to announce that thirteen HCPL branches will provide nutritious, free lunches to children in low income areas of Harris County through the Houston Food Bank’s Kids Café program. Only children 1 – 18 years are eligible. Meals and snacks are provided on a first come, first served basis. Supplies are limited, but will be adjusted depending on demand.

June 6 – August 6
Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays
Lunch 1:00 – 2:00 pm

Strike, Scrape and Shake Show!

Come and hear the musical stylings of Mark Shelton Wednesday, June 21 at 2:30pm in the Children's Area. Don't miss this magical drumming show that will transport you to a percussion wonderland! All ages are welcome-no tickets are needed.

Road TripThe Teen Summer Reading Program is off to a running start!  Drop in on Tuesday, June 21st, to make a travel game to take on summer road trips and vacations.  Then, on Thursday, June 23rd, stop by the library to play games with your friends in the meeting room.

Houston Astros Orbit @ N.Channel!

Calling all baseball and reading fans-or anyone who loves to have fun! Houston Astros own mascot Orbit  will be here Wednesday, June 15 at 2:30pm for a HIGHLY entertaining and motivational show...Participate in a pep-rally of sorts right in the middle of the Children's Area here at North Channel! For all ages. No tickets required. Don't forget  your cameras...

Monday Movie Madnees!!!

Alvin and the ChipmunksJoin us today for Monday Movie Madness at 2:30 pm. Free Tickets are available at the front desk the Monday, the week of the program. 
Today we are watching Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Road Trip. It is rated PG and running time is 1 hour and 32 minutes.

Ask A Lawyer at North Channel Library

lawyerOur popular "Ask A Lawyer" program will be held this Saturday, June 11th from 11 am - 12:30 pm in our Meeting Room.  This free legal clinic is presented by Angela D. Johnson, Attorney at Law.  Ms. Johnson will be answering legal questions and addressing issues that are important to the community.  Please join us for a chance for some free legal guidance.

Teen Summer Programs @ North Channel Library

Olympic Torches Teen TimeThe 2016 Summer Reading Program has begun here at North Channel and we have lots of fun planned for Babies, Kids, Tweens, Teens, and Adults. 
If you/ or your child is between the ages of 10-18 then you'll want to join us for our Teen Activities which will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 pm
To kick off the summer we made Olympic Torches out of ice cream cones and Cheetos to celebrate the Summer Olympics beginning Aug. 6th in Rio 2016.

movie watchersWe are kicking off the Teen Summer Reading Program this week. We are watching an awesome Thursday Throwback movie on the big screen.  Teens and tweens are invited to join us in the meeting room at 4 pm on Thursday, June 9th.  Bring a pillow, blanket, an awesome snack and light colored drink, and take to the ice with a cool movie.

Summer Reading Fun Begins!

       North Channel kicks off Summer Reading Fun events this Monday, June 6! Everyone is invited to  participate...babies, children, teens and adults - so be sure to sign up online at http://www.hcpl.net or visit the library to get started. Also, we'll host a performance by Magic Dork Tuesday, June 7 at 10:30am in the Children's Area for our first big show!
