Preschool Storytime

Parents, do your children like stories? Or would like to help your child with early literacy? Then join us for our weekly Storytime, every Tuesday at 1:30pm. We share stories, songs, and finger plays. Your child will have fun and learn at the same time! Padres, a sus hijos les gustan los cuentos? O quieren ayudarlos a leer?

Strings Attached at North Channel

Yarn NeedlesStop by North Channel and learn how to knit, to crochet or suggest a needle craft we can all learn about together.  Supplies are available for those just wanting to try it out.  Share your knowledge with others and show off your current projects.  Please join Strings Attached at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, in the meeting room.

MeeTeen: WeDo Robotics!

Teens and tweens, it's almost here!  Have some Lego fun with HCPL’s Lego WeDo Robotics kits!  We will  work together to build robotics projects.  We'll meet in North Channel’s meeting room at 4:30 pm, Thursday, Jan. 28th.  Space will be limited to those who were one of the other three robotics sessions this month.  Didn't make it?  Look for this program again in April.

This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (2016).

Monday Movie: Goosebumps!

Do you like R. L. Stine and the Goosebumps series? Then this month's Monday Movie is for you! Find out if a teenager who teams up with R.L. Stines's daughter can put a stop to the spooky happenings in Madison, Delaware, that were released from the writer's imagination...This new release is Rated PG. Movie length is 1hour and 43 minutes. We'll show this feature on our big screen in the Public Meeting Room. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

New GED Distance Learning Program @ Your Library

Harris County Public Library is partnering with Harris County Department of Education, Adult Education to present a free distance learning program for area residents who want to earn their GED. Distance education programs allow you to learn at your own pace and to work on any computer with an internet connection.

AARP Tax Assistance Starts February 4th

taxesIt’s tax time again and that means it’s time to welcome back AARP to the North Channel Library starting February 4th .  AARP will be offering free tax assistance every Thursday from 12pm to 4pm From February 4th through April 14th. Sign-up begins at 10am Thursday mornings only.  Please bring your tax return from last year as well as your W-2's and other papers for this year. Polliwog Club @ North Channel Library

  Do you like animals? Deussen Park's Traveling Naturalist will be here at North Channel Branch for a first Spring visit with  "Inside/Out Animals",  where you will learn about specialized animal parts and have the opportunity to touch live animals too!" The fun starts Tuesday, January 19 at 1:30pm in the Public Meeting Room. "Let It Snow" Globe Craft

Let it Snow!!!!
We can only dream and use our imaginations for snow in Houston.
This Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 4:30 pm, come join us in the North Channel Public Meeting Room for a fun craft project after school.
Create your own Winter Wonderland by making a Snow Globe to take home with you. 
All materials provided. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Book Sale this weekend at North Channel Library

book saleCome shop at the Friends of the North Channel Library Book Sale! The book sale will be this Friday, January 8th and Saturday, January 9th during the library's open hours.  All proceeds from the sale go directly to the North Channel Library to fund various library needs, such as children's programs, books and other items.

This month all fiction books, children's books, arts & craft books, cookbooks and DVDs will be buy one get free.

Looking for entertainment before school's back in swing? Then come on over this Monday, January 4  at 2:30pm in the Public Meeting Room for a Children's Movie - Minions!
