North Channel Book Club

A Marriage of Opposites by Alice Hoffman How far would a person go to escape the expectations and demands of family? Rachel, strong-willed and difficult, dreams of leaving her life on St. Thomas for the fashionable Paris.  But in the early 1800's, her life is not her own.  Will she be able to withstand an arranged marriage to a widower or will she once again defy her parents' wishes to begin a new life? The North Channel Book Club will discuss "A Marriage of Opposites" by Alice Hoffman at 10 am on Wednesday, September 28, in the meeting room.  Join us for the discussion and refreshments.

CrafTeen @ NC

The North Channel Branch will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by creating a clay art piece inspired by trophies of the Mesoamerican ball game. Teens and tweens are invited to join in  We will get together in the meeting room on Monday, Sept. 26th, at 4:30 pm.

Hispanic Heritage Kid's Craft

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage with us this Wednesday, September 21, or "Tonalli Trecena" in the Aztec Calendar, at 4:30pm when we'll create Aztec Mosaic Masks!  We'll also enjoy themed refreshments at this Kid's Craft recommended for ages 4 and up located in our Public Meeting Room. North Channel Library's PoKeDeX

NC PoKeDeXCalling all Pokemon trainers!!! North Channel has free WiFi so that you can catch as many Pokemon as possible at our Pokestop. But you better hurry and catch 'em all before the librarians do, because we play too.
We also offer free library cards so that you can check out Pokemon books or movies too.
Draw your favorite Pokemon that you have caught at our branch and help us fill our Pokedex bulletin board with as many Pokemon as we can. 

Building Bucks Family Night

Would you like to engage your child in fun bilingual activities which encourage financial literacy?Then attend North Channel Library's "Buiding Bucks" program (developed by the Children's Museum) this Monday, September 19 from 6-7pm. We will be meeting in the Public Meeting Room. Activities are recommended for ages 2-8 years. Groups please call North Channel Branch at 281-457-1631.

Be the Peace, Be the Hope

Be the Peace, Be the Hope"Let us be the change we wish to see in the world" - Mahatma Gandhi
Be the Peace, Be the Hope is a program that invites youth to spread a spirit of hope and peace, and raise awareness for change through art.
You can be a part of this change by joining North Channel in creating an art project to share with children living in refugee camps around the world. This will be a continuous project at the library at 4:30 pm on September 13th, 14th, and 15th in the Public Meeting Room. All materials will be provided. 



Teens and tweens, you are invited to come to the North Channel Branch and join the Teen Advisory Group.  Make your voices heard on a variety of subjects from decorating the teen area to future programs you would like to see at the library. TAG will be gathering in the children's area  today, Monday, Sept. 12th at 4:30 pm.   We will discuss a project called "Be The Peace, Be The Hope," that we will be working on this week. Participants can earn volunteer hours for any school organization requirements. 

Ask A Lawyer This Saturday

LAWYEROur popular "Ask A Lawyer" program will be held this Saturday, September 10th from 11 am - 12:30 pm in our Meeting Room.  This free legal clinic is presented by Angela D. Johnson, Attorney at Law.  Ms. Johnson will be answering legal questions and addressing issues that are important to the community.  Please join us for a chance for some free legal guidance.

See Mowgli and Baloo on our big screen here at North Channel on Monday, September 12 at 4:30pm when we show the new release, The Jungle Book! You don't need a ticket...just gather in our Public Meeting Room with your pillows, blankets, snacks and/or light colored drinks. Book Sale This Weekend

book saleCome shop at the Friends of the North Channel Library Book Sale! The book sale will be this Friday, September 2nd and Saturday September 3rd. All proceeds from the sale go directly to the North Channel Library to fund various library needs, such as children's programs, books and other items.
