SnowflakeTeens and tweens! Now is your chance to make your voices heard in the library.  Meet up in the North Channel meeting room to discuss what you would like to see happen at the library in 2018.  We will talk about spring programs and ideas for the summer reading program.  Come in, get involved and make the library a better place for teens and tweens.  We will meet today, Jan. 2nd, at 4:30 pm in the meeting room.

Come enjoy a fun Snowman themed storytime and pictures with Santa.

The event will take place tonight, at 6:00 PM in our Public Meeting Room. Free tickets are required and available at the program. Tickets are 1 per family.

Faithful Paws

Did you know friendly, furry pals will be here at North Channel Library Saturday, December 16 from 2-3pm to listen to you read to them? Faithful Paws of Houston provides trained and well-groomed dogs for a visit here every third Saturday of the month at the same time. Sit and share with them for early literacy encouragement, reading practice, or just for fun! All ages are welcome including teens, adults and seniors. Children's Area. Book Buddies coming to North Channel Library

Book BuddiesBook Buddies is a free program that brings children and volunteers together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained volunteers, teens in 7th - 12th grade (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week for 45 minutes of shared reading.
North Channel is now taking applications for Big and Little Buddies. If you would like to be apart of this fun experience, please fill out an application at the front desk, or see staff for more information. 281-457-1631.

Book Sale CANCELLED

cancelledThe Friends of the North Channel Library Book Sale scheduled for this weekend, December 1 and 2, has been CANCELLED. Sorry for any inconviences. There are some books for sale in the Library lobby if you would like to stop by to see what is available.

Registration Now Open for Playbots Coding Clubs!

Playbots graphic with EV1 RobotRegistration is now open for Harris County Public Library's Playbots Coding Clubs. In these eight week courses, youth ages 11-14 will create short videos about their communities starring Lego Mindstorm robots that they will build and code. In the final week, participating branches will host special viewing parties where family and friends will screen the finished projects. Viewing parties will be held on Monday, February 26 at 5:00 p.m. 

By registering for the first class, you will secure a spot for the entire 8-week course. Because space is very limited, we ask that participants commit to attending all eight weeks.

Holiday Hours for HCPL

Happy ThanksgivingHarris County Public Libraries will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. All branches will close early on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 5 PM.
We will be closed all day Thursday, November 23 thru Sunday, November 26th.
North Channel will reopen Monday, November 27th for regular business hours 1 PM - 8 PM.

Teen NaNoWriMo Programs @ NC

Quill and Ink wellTeens and tweens, it's National Novel Writing Month! North Channel will be celebrating all month long!.  Join us on  Tuesday, Nov. 14th, the Teen Book Club  in the meeting room to create a collaborative graphic novel and discuss our favorites. On Thursday, Nov. 16th, join in the fun as we create silly stories and have snacks in the meeting room. To wrap up NaNoWriMo, we will meet in the computer lab again on Tuesday, Nov. 28th, to design and publish our own zine.  All our programs will begin at 4:30 pm.
