Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

HBDTheodor Seuss Geisel was an American author best known for authoring more than 60 children's books under the name Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss was born on March 22, 1904. Today we celebrate his birthday with an after school craft at 4:30 PM in the Children's Area of the library.

Early Voting Hours of Operation:
February 20-23: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
February 24: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
February 25: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
February 26 - March 2: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

MeeTeen Game Day

CardsTeens and tweens, stop by the library and play a game with your friends.  We will be playing a card game called Hearts.  Stop by and learn how to play or show your skills.   We will be meeting in the teen area of the library at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 20th.  

Black History Month at North Channel

traffic lightTo help us celebrate Black History Month at North Channel Library, we will have a children's craft to help us learn about a talented African American Inventor.
Garrett Morgan invented the traffic light in 1923. His other inventions included hair cream, hair dye, hair straightening comb, gas mask, and a belt fastener for a sewing machine. 
Join us today, February 14th at 4:30 PM in the Public Meeting Room to make your own traffic light, enjoy a light snack, and play a fun game of Red light, Green light. 

Family Learning Space @ North Channel

toysThanks to the Harris County Friends of the Library for their generous donation to the North Channel Library. Along with funds from the Friends of the North Channel Library, we were able to replenish items for the Family Learning Space in the Children's Area of the Library. 
In this area you will find new building blocks that will encourage children to use their imaginations, creativity, and problem solving skills. Also purchased was a new item, a kitchen, that will help children benefit from pretend play to boost their social and emotional development.

3D Printer Orientation: MakerBot

makerbot printNorth Channel will have a 3D Printer Orientation for the MakerBot Replicator on Monday, February 5th, at 6 PM.
This orientation session will introduce participants to 3D printing services in the library. Those completing the class will then be able to schedule time to use the printer after receiving hands-on training.

Class size is limited. Recommended for ages 8 - adult. Participants under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian.

Library Book Sale

book saleFriends of the North Channel Library will be hosting a Library Book Sale this weekend at the library.
The Book Sale will be on Friday, Feb 2nd, 1-6 PM and Saturday, Feb 3rd, 10 AM - 2 PM.
All donations and proceeds from the sale go directly to the North Channel Library to fund various library needs, such as craft programming, summer performers, books and other items.  Don't miss our book sale this weekend!

Baby Time Cancelled JAN 18

Baby TimeBaby Time is cancelled for Thursday, Jan 18th at 10:30 AM.
We will resume story times, Toddler Time, PreSchool Storytime, and Baby Time next week.

HCPL's Curiosity Cruiser is coming to NC

Teen Advisory Group @NC

SnowflakeTeens and tweens! Now is your chance to make your voices heard in the library.  Meet up in the North Channel meeting room to discuss what you would like to see happen at the library in 2018.  We will talk about spring programs and ideas for the summer reading program.  Come in, get involved and make the library a better place for teens and tweens.  We will meet today, Jan. 2nd, at 4:30 pm in the meeting room.
