Holiday Hours for HCPL

Happy ThanksgivingHarris County Public Libraries will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. All branches will close early on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 5 PM.
We will be closed all day Thursday, November 23 thru Sunday, November 26th.
North Channel will reopen Monday, November 27th for regular business hours 1 PM - 8 PM.

Anime Movie Marathon at NC

Teen NaNoWriMo Programs @ NC

Quill and Ink wellTeens and tweens, it's National Novel Writing Month! North Channel will be celebrating all month long!.  Join us on  Tuesday, Nov. 14th, the Teen Book Club  in the meeting room to create a collaborative graphic novel and discuss our favorites. On Thursday, Nov. 16th, join in the fun as we create silly stories and have snacks in the meeting room. To wrap up NaNoWriMo, we will meet in the computer lab again on Tuesday, Nov. 28th, to design and publish our own zine.  All our programs will begin at 4:30 pm.

NC BOOK SALE THIS WEEKEND

Book SaleNorth Channel will hoid a Friends of the Library Book Sale this weekend, Friday and Saturday, November 10th and 11th, during library open hours.
All proceeds from the sale go directly to the North Channel Library to fund various library needs, such as craft programming, summer performers, books and other items.  Don't miss our book sale this weekend!

Let's Go Astros!!

Houston Astros

Let's Go Astros!! Game 7 of the 2017 World Series is tonight against the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers. We're rooting for our hometeam and hope the Astros can bring home our first ever World Series Champions Title.
Did you know the library has many books just about the Houston Astros, and even a DVD of the Astros and their run for the World Series title 12 years ago in 2005. Click the links to find some fun fact books about your hometeam and let us know who you'll be rooting for tonight in Game 7.

3D Printing at North Channel

3D PrintingNorth Channel Branch Library is excited to announce that we now offer 3D printing services at the library. We will host our first orientation class on November 6, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the Computer Lab.
This orientation session will introduce participants to 3D printing services in the library. Those completing the class will then be able to schedule time to use the printer after receiving hands-on training.
Class size is limited. Recommended for ages 8 - adult. Participants under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian. Call the Library to register. 281-457-1631

Only 1 Toddler Time at NC

Due to early voting at the North Channel Branch Library, there will only be ONE Toddler Time for the next 3 weeks.

We will meet in the Children's Area of the Library, near the Family Learning Space. 
Toddler Time is every Tuesday at the library for children 18 months - 3 years old, and their parents/caregivers.

Faithful Paws

Did you know friendly, furry pals will be here at North Channel Library Saturday, October 17 from 2-3pm to listen to you read to them? Faithful Paws of Houston provides trained and well-groomed dogs for a visit here every third Saturday of the month at the same time. Sit and share with them for early literacy encouragement, reading practice, or just for fun! All ages are welcome including teens, adults and seniors. Children's Area. STEAM Camp: NASA Space Science

Have you ever gazed upon the moon and wondered it's secrets? Discover many of them on Monday, October 16 at 6pm in a special STEAM Camp: NASA Space Science Program when we will explore the phases of the moon and more! Activities include a Lunar Storytime, an Edible Moon Phase Craft, and we can even take your photo "on the moon" with a Greenscreen! Children's Area and Public Meeting Room. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
