Pokemon Club

Meet and battle other Pokemon gamers & trainers here at North Channel Library on Saturday, February 23 from 3-4pm!  Bring your cards and/or Nintendo DS games for fun and enjoy a themed craft or activity and refreshments too! Pokemon Club meets monthly and is recommended for children ages 6-12 years. No registration is required. We wil be meeting in the Public Meeting Room.

Pokemon is licensed by Pokemon and Nintendo.

AARP Tax Help @ North Channel Library

It's that time of year again!  AARP will be here on Thursdays from 12pm-4pm, February 7 through April 11, to assist with this year's tax returns. Their specialty is in elderly and low-income returns, but they can help with other simple returns. Sign up is on the same day of assistance starting at 10am upon the library's opening and is on a first come, first serve basis, however, a line generally forms by the entrance earlier. AARP can assist twenty people per day. Please bring your ID, social security cards, last years tax return, and any other applicable papers the volunteers may need to help you.    ©2019 Vital Imagery Ltd.

STEAM Camp

At STEAM Camp on Monday, January 28 at 6pm we'll be exploring engineering and gravity principles when we design our own mini parachutes! All materials are supplied and no tickets are required-just show up! STEAM Camp is recommended for ages 6-12 years. We'll be enjoying this activity in the Public Meeting Room.

Animal Superpowers Series

We sure had fun at the first program of the "Animal Superpower's" Spring Series by Deussen Park's Traveling Naturalist! Pictured is a scorpion we saw glow; we also saw a milk snake, a gecko, a Pipa Pipa frog, and a flying squirrel! This series on Animal Senses will be every second Tuesday through April at 11am. Recommended age 3-6 years.

Monday Movie Madness

 Join us Monday, December 10 at 5pm for the holiday movie, Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas on our big screen! Will Christmas be ruined for the Who's? Family Movie

Join us during this holiday break on Wednesday, November 21 at 2pm for a Family Movie! We'll be watching Shrek on our big screen...Will Shrek rescue Princess Fiona? See all sorts of magical creatures in his home in the swamp! Don't forget your pillows, blankets, and refreshments. This feature is rated PG and is 90 min. in length. Public Meeting Room.

Faithful Paws

Did you know friendly, furry pals will be here at North Channel Library Saturday, November from 2-3pm to listen to you read to them? Faithful Paws of Houston provides trained and well-groomed dogs for a visit here every third Saturday of the month at the same time. Sit and share with them for early literacy encouragement, reading practice, or just for fun! All ages are welcome. Children's Area. For more information please call the branch at (832) 927-5550.

Kid's Native American History

Celebrate Native American History Month with us at North Channel Branch! Houston Museum of Natural Science's Docents to Go will be here Wednesday, November 14 at 5pm to present Kid's Native American History, where we'll learn all about the inventiveness and resourcefullness of North America's earliest residents. This program is 45 min. in length and features hands-on learning with real museum artifacts and specimens! Recommended for ages 7-12 years.
