HCPL Harvey FAQs

I could not return my library materials because I could not reach the library due to high water. Am I still responsible for the late fees? 

If you return your books by September 15, you will not accrue late fees.

UPDATE: Most HCPL Branches Resume Normal Business Hours & Programming, Monday, Sept. 11.

**** The Northwest Branch Library Will Close at 1PM Friday and Will Remain Closed Through Monday***.

All Harris County Public Libraries will close at 1PM Friday, August 25 and will remain closed through Monday, August 28.

Branches that have not opened as of 11:30 AM Friday will remain closed through Monday.

A decision as to Tuesday operating hours--if any--will be made Monday afternoon. Please monitor this site, Facebook or Twitter @harriscountypl for further announcements.

NO LATE FEES WILL BE CHARGED DURING THESE CLOSURES: Borrowing dates will be adjusted when libraries reopen.

What is ReadyRosie?

ReadyRosie is an early education tool that is currently helping schools and communities across the nation deepen and scale their parent engagement efforts by leveraging the power of video modeling and mobile technology to meet and equip parents where they are. ReadyRosie has hundreds of brief videos in English and Spanish that model everyday interactions in familiar environments with real parents.

All it takes is 2 minutes a day.

Another quality small business workshop c/o SCORES. Financing your business is one of the most important issues facing small businesses today. Learn about the various sources of funds in the marketplace, the best place to start, what the lenders look for when reviewing a funding application and the key ingredients for success when borrowing money. The workshop will also cover sources of equity and how to use equity as an alternative to borrowing funds.

August Book Clubs

The Northwest Branch Library has several active book clubs that meet regularly each month. If you would like to participate, consider joining one (or all) of the clubs. Fellowship and fun for all. Summer Is Not Over Yet

Sand CraftJoin the fun this week as we wrap up another great children's summer reading storytellerprogram.  Remember to come and pick up your prizes for reading and join us for some of these wonderful programs. Thursday, August 3rd at 4:00 pm is the last Indian dance class.  Come and learn about Indian dances, stories, culture and activities.  Friday, August 4th at 2:00 pm first make a sand bottle with eye catching layers of multi-colored sand then at 4:00 pm watch Disney's Moana. Saturday, August 5th at 2:00 pm come listen to storyteller Leona Hoegsberg tell exciting stories from near and far.
