Wednesday, October 3rd at 7:00 PM – Fall Soups and Stews in an Instant [15 and Adult]

As we look to Fall, we all hope that the weather gets cooler.

When the weather gets cooler, we all want some hot and tasty food.

Join us at the Parker Williams Branch Library on October 3rd in the Library Community Room at 7 PM to learn some different tips and tricks to making soups and stews for the fall.

Free sample of what we’re cooking that night with a signed waiver.  

Tuesday, October 2nd at 5:30 PM – National Night Out [All Ages]

Join us in the Annex 67 Parking Lot as we celebrate National Night Out on October 2nd at 5:30 PM with all of the different Harris County departments that surround the Parker Williams Branch Library.

While your children and teens are distracted by our Nerf shooting gallery, hear all about the different resources we have and services we provide.

You can even join the Friends of the Parker Williams Library right then and there. Come enjoy the fun!

Tuesday, October 2nd at 5:00 PM – Book Buddies [6 to 10]

Book Buddies is a youth literacy program brought to you from the Harris County Public Library.

Book Buddies is for children from Kindergarten to third grade who will be paired with a teen Big Buddy who will read to them each session.

This program is centered around fostering a of love as an enjoyable hobby.

It will be held at the Parker Williams Branch Library starting on Tuesdays from 5:00 to 5:45 PM in the Library Community Room for ten consecutive weeks starting October 2nd and ending December 4th.

Applications can be picked up at the Reference Desk and are due back at the latest on Tuesday, October 2nd.  

Tuesday, October 30th at 6:30 PM – Teen Zombie Hunt [12+]

Starting with Patient Zero, a zombie plague has taken over the library!

Do you have the stuff to survive?

Join us after hours on October 30th at the Parker Williams Branch Library starting at 6:30 to find, fight, and survive.

Waiver will be needed to participate. 

Monday, October 1st from 6-7:30 PM – Magic: The Gathering Gameplay [8+]

Magic: The Gathering is a dueling card game from Wizards of the Coast.

It incorporates strategy, mythical lore, and competitive-community play.

Join us on the first and third Mondays from 6PM -7:30PM on the Library Floor for a few hours of game play. F

or those who would like to learn how to play, a staff member will be present to teach you.

Anime Club – My Hero Academia (TV-14) [12+] - Friday, September 28th from 4 PM to 6 PM

After a summer of music, everyone is going back to school, even the Parker Williams Anime Club.

Join us as we watch the journey of Izuku Midoria as he battles his way into UA Academy, the school of his dreams.

Anime Club will be meeting in the Library Community Room starting at 4 PM.

Library Leadership [12+] - Thursday, September 27th at 5 PM

 

 

In the spirit of new beginnings, we here at the Parker Williams Branch Library are starting a new Library Leadership team.

This is an opportunity for teens to have their voice heard about the programs the library is offering, the teen books bought for our collection, and any other topic that effects how they live their life.

Library Leadership will be the last Thursday of the month at 5 PM in the Library Community Room. 

STEM Time – Marshmallow Molecules [8+] - Wednesday, September 26th at 5 PM

 

 

Join us in the Library Community Room on Wednesday, September 26th at 5 PM for our STEM Time project Marshmallow Molecules.

 

We are going to be learning about what makes up different molecules and how the periodic table of elements was created.   

Book Buddies: Big Buddy Training [14+] - Tuesday, September 25th at 4:30 PM

 

Book Buddies is a youth literacy program brought to you from the Harris County Public Library.

We are looking for teen volunteers to be mentor Big Buddies.

Applications will be available at the Reference Desk and will be due the day of the training.

Training will be on Tuesday, September 25th at 4:30 in the Parker Williams Library Community Room.
