Are your photos trapped in your devices, scattered in shoeboxes, or bound in sticky albums?  Do you have family vacations, special moments, and treasured recollections captured on slides?  Are your digital directories messy, cluttered and difficult to navigate?  Do you want to protect your photos from equipment malfunction or natural disasters? Join us on Saturday, December 9 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss solutions for photo sorting and organizing problems. Presented by Amire Hemme, a retired project manager, certified photo organizer and owner of PreciousMemories.

Last Jedi Pre Party December 9th @ 11:30AM-1:30PM [All Ages]

For Younglings, Padawans, and Masters alike, the Parker Williams Branch Library is going to be having a Last Jedi Pre Party to celebrate the 8th movie release in the Skywalker Saga.

Join us in the Library Community Room on Saturday, December 9th from 11:30AM to 1:30PM.

There will be games, coding, snacks, and a costume contest for both youth and adults.

If you try to come, please remember, “There is no try, only do.”

Refreshments are generously provided by the Friends of the Parker Williams Library.

STEM Time – Science of Milk and Cookies December 6th @ 5 PM [7+]

 Why are milk and cookies such an alluring combination?

Are there some magical properties of universe at play?

Join Mr. John in the Library Community Room on December 6th at 5 PM as he breaks down the basic chemical process of baking cookies and the magically delicious elements that make up milk.

Cookies and milk to be provided by the generosity of the Parker Williams Friends of the Library.

Clean Out The Craft Closet! November 22nd @ 2-4 PM [6+]

 

Throughout the year, the Parker Williams Branch has a variety of different craft programs that span from storytime to summer projects to our monthly Community Craft.

There will be a variety of different projects and supplies available to keep them occupied.

Join us on November 22nd in the Library Community Room from 2-4 PM to let your little ones craft their hearts out. 

Teen DIY and a Movie – Wonder Woman (PG-13) and Wonder T-Shirt November 20th @ 2:30 PM [13+]

For any teens who embody truth, justice, or are on Thanksgiving Break, the Parker Williams Branch is hosting a special mid-day Teen DIY and a Movie presentation of Wonder Woman in the Library Community Room on November 20th at 2:30 PM.

While watching the movie, we will be designing Wonder Woman t-shirts, including a gold Wonder Woman inspired iron on.

Materials and snacks generously provided by the Friends of The Parker Williams Library.

Anime Club – Knight’s & Magic (TV-14) November 17th @ 5 PM [14+]

Community Craft – Thanksgiving and Fall November 16th@ 4 PM [7+]

Getting into the Thanksgiving turkey mood, the Parker Williams Branch will be hosting a Fall-Thanksgiving Community Craft on November 16th from 4PM to 5 PM in the Library Community Room.

The children will be making a stained glass turkey to show off to the relatives.

Adults will be making a festive, fall leaf bowl that could be your new centerpiece.   

Basic Life Skills – Situational Awareness November 15th @ 5 PM [12+]

When you leave your house, do you scan your neighborhood?

Can you spot a stranger?

How do you know if they are following you?

These aren’t super spy skills. They are basic principles of situational awareness.

Join us at 5 PM on November 15th in the Library Community Room to learn some basic strategies of keeping situationally aware and safe in the world.

The History of the Bolo Tie November 11th @ 10:30 AM [6+]

What is a Bolo Tie? Who wears them?

Leslie Eaton from the Houston Rodeo Speaker’s Committee will be coming to the Parker Williams Branch to talk about the history of the Bolo Tie with a variety of different examples for kids to pursue.

Kids will be able to make their own FREE Lego Bolo Tie.

Join us in ESL Room 1 on November 11th at 10:30 to learn the History of the Bolo Tie. Registration is required.
